As far as i saw a documentary on Trojan war, it was said that many went to persuade Achilles to fight again but they all failed to persuade him. Then Nestor, who was a Greek warrior told Patrolclus to persuade Achilles to come back and if he fails to do so , he will have to wear the armour of Achilles and fight in the war. So as everyone knew that Achilles rejected to go the war , Patroclus had to the war wearing Achilles' armour and eventually nesr the gate of the city of Troy , he was slsyed by Hector, the elder brother of Paris

Yes, and Achilles asked Agamemnon to let the girl go, then Agamemnon said he will let her go if Achilles gives Agamemnon his lover. So Achilles gives up his own lover to Agamemnon in order to lift of the plague, but was angry to let her go, so he stopped fighting

Great explanation Sir but there is a little misinformation. The correct fact is, Achilles gets furious & refuses to fight in the war when Agamemnon demands Briseis (the war prize rewarded to Achilles) from Achilles as compensation of returning Chryseis to his father Chryses.

Sir, there is a small mistake which is the name of the Achilles's lover is Briseis and the name of the daughter of the priest Apolo is Chrysis. And Achilles was angry as Brisesis is forcefully taken or stolen by Agamemnon, the chief of Greek Army after returning The Chryses's daughter due to the plague upon the Greek.

Nicely explained but something I would like to correct about Hector is.. Hector was no coward; he did not run away nor hide by seeing the wrath of Achilles instead he told his wife and son that he would rather die fighting and fulfil his duty than to live in a shame with his wife and son and this thought of everyone remembering him as a coward is more distressing than the pleasure of peaceful life in the company of his wife and son. Hector is the real Hero of The Iliad.

Oh but he was definitely afraid of Achilles and he did infact run away after seeing him. He might have said that he'll die fighting but the rage growing inside Achilles and the overwhelming difference of strength bw them was enough for him to panicly run away and later die by the hands of the greek hero. In his final moment, all that Hector felt was fear

@@lateshbhadarka9863 I see why you're deluded. Troy movie is barely based on the iliad, Hector is shown as a hero there for entertainment purposes. You really just need to read the iliad to see that Hector did ran away and not just once but 3 full circles of the walls, he was fearful of Achilles wrath and that is why you as a reader feel more connected to him. But truth is truth, hector was way weaker than Achilles but at the same time he's more human and more understandable than Achilles
