I am a Teachers pet (I admit it!) at school but at home, I am complete lazy, sluggish, tired, and not excited to learn. My grades have been slacking ever since this year began, and I really needed advice and motivation. This has helped me so much! I used to make excuses and say that "It's time for a break." and watch KZbin for hours and a day will go by, but now I realize there are no excuses and breaks can only be on weekends! Thank you! ❤♥

Fun fact: eye specialists also recommend 2 hours at least of natural sunlight (being outdoors particularly) to help combat eye strain, vision problems, and headaches from being on screens too much
@MoonlitBookworm73 Жыл бұрын
I just want to mention that “resting” isn’t just sitting down. There are several types of rest and sometimes we need one that doesn’t involve napping. Physical rest: - sitting down - getting a massage - exercising - dancing - stretching Sometimes we actually need to move our body because we sit at a desk or in a chair all day. Mental rest: - turning off notifications - staying away from social media - meditating - journaling Our brains need time to recharge and process information. Sometimes our brains just need a break from all the mental gymnastics and mental stimulation. Emotional rest: - spending time alone - avoiding emotionally draining or stressful situations - venting to a friend or trusted person This is *not* the same as mental rest! We need a space for our emotions as well as our mental space. Sensory rest: - dim the lights/use natural light - listen to calming music - wear comfy clothes - turn off electronics - close your eyes - take a bath - use deep breathing Creative rest: - take a break from your work - pursue a hobby that is just fun - do a creative activity like cooking, painting, drawing, knitting, crocheting, etc This type of rest gives our minds time to explore new ideas and helps to keep us motivated. Social rest: - spend some alone time - spend time with family or friends - join a club - avoid social situations - practice self-care - go on a solo picnic or date yourself If you experience a lot of social interaction at school, work, or another place, you may just need to spend some time alone. On the other hand, if you don’t see people in person most of the time, you may need to spend time with friends and family or go out and talk to people. Spiritual rest: - meditate - praying - yoga - spend time in nature - volunteer or donate to a cause that is really important to you This does *not* mean religious rest! Spiritual rest means fulfilling what your soul and spirit needs. If that means praying and reading from a Holy book for you, then that is great, but spiritual rest can also be taking time to support causes or issues that are important to you. Anyway, this is a really long comment so I’ll keep this exit short. All of these are taken from Hayley Honeyman’s youtube video “How to ACTUALLY Rest if you have ADHD!” She makes a lot of great points and does so in an easy and educational way, so I highly recommend you go watch her! Another note: If you are neurodivergent, you may have a delayed circadian rhythm that causes you to feel tired at 1am and naturally wake up around 10am.
@StudyToSuccess Жыл бұрын

After I watched this video, I can confirm that, no wonder why I feel anxious when I keep saying "I'll do the tasks later" until ends up not doing it (I realized that its because unconsciously I thought these tasks is hard) because I prefer to satisfy my self through sleeping (I sleep a lot & I'm kind of bothered with it), also I lack discipline because I'm constantly doing those things like scrolling, eating snacks etc etc. In reality, its the fear that makes me procrastinate and prevents me from being productive at all 😢

for social media, i would reccomend looking up videos that focus on studying and watching those before you study to get you in the right mindset. then pull up a study with me video to have on the side. if your phone is where you tend to reach for social media, keep it plugged in and with the video playing or have it record you while you study! it’ll keep it “inaccessible” in your head. i have a monitor so when i study my phone is on the side recording me, my monitor has my materials on it, and my laptop screen has a study with me video on it! ❤

If you have problems with sleep, it’s also smart to use the nighttime function on your digital devices (that’s the function that makes the screen more red in the evening). Also avoid having blue light in your bedroom and get lamps that are more in the red spectrum. So get lights that have a colour temperature below 4500 kelvin. Also spending just the last 10 minutes before going to sleep with reading a book instead of staring at a screen helps a lot. I struggled with sleep for most of my time in school and the first few years at university and it took me some time, but I think I finally am close to mastering the recipe for perfect sleep.

Tip for coffee lovers: as someone who loves coffee AND has a long way to school, I wake up early in the morning (rn it's either 5:20 or 6 am) and I don't have time for coffee. Therefore I drink a coffee right after I come back from school, it often helps me to actually get to study almost as soon as I come back btw ;)) And yes, that may cause problems with falling asleep, as the creator of the video mentioned. The solution is simple: drink a few glasses of water after the coffee and it will take much quicker for the caffeine to get "cleaned up" from your organism. Sure, you'll have to go pee every hour but it's worth it If you can fall asleep early later on. Now go study cause I'm sure you also have a ton of things to do ;))

I happen to be a very picky sleeper 😅 My room needs to be slightly cooler, but my body needs to be warm. I need a star projector (or brighter nightlight at least) because my anxiety won't let me sleep otherwise (my mind plays tricks on me and makes me hallucinate in the complete dark). I also use asmr videos to make me sleepy and keep my mind on that one thing and not wander. Finally even with that, it can still take me hours to fall asleep, so I use Unisom as a sleep aid. It's a bit stronger than melatonin but still super safe as it's often given to pregnant women. I don't take it every night, only on school nights. I plan on adding to my nightly routine so I can get myself into the sleep mindset quicker 😊

Hi! Since you the video did mention environment I'd like to share a few tips. In general bright and saturated colours boost your mood, especially when the weather is gloomy. Do try to get some colour in your room and daily outfits. In regards of sunlight, keep in mind that skin colour might affect how much of it you need: if you have darker skin it means that you produce more melanin to protect yourself from the sun, because of that you'll actually need to spend MORE time under the sun to get the vitamin D you need. Be careful, people with fair skin need sunlight too! And no matter how easily you get sunburnt, you still need sunscreen

I overall really like your video! Im in my final semester of undergrad and i am incredibly burnt out so focusing on my care is a big deal. I will say with the active and passive rest part, I've found that the rest I'm able to do greatly depends on the amount of time I have to rest. In part because school is only one part of my responsibilities. House work and work don't go away. Because of this, i often need a bit of time (like a week or so) of just passive rest with nothing to do. During my semester I've also taken to asking myself what i need and what i have energy for. I got this idea from how to keep house while drowning. I have listed a bunch of care tasks and restful activities and they're categorized by both impact and energy so that when i am needing rest, i have a list of things that i can do no matter my energy level and i have a general idea of how much they'll help me! Its been so helpful when i dont want to think tons while resting.

I didn’t know the symptoms you talked about were linked to anemia!! I knew i had it, but my doctor didn’t explain anything about it, so i just skipped talking my supplements. Thanks, I will start taking them now!!

Okay nice tips and all but I highly appeciate how aesthetic this video is mustve taken so much time editing and collecting resouces. Watching the video with such pretty colours made it less boring and over all just made me happy

Having an schedule and routine also helps a lot because you can take off your shoulders having to think about what to do now, which is a waste of time and basically leaves space to procrastinate.
