No you cannot so...... See the question says that both he and I are equally strong. When you say I m stronger than he is you are actually changing the sentence. So you cannot write that.

Actually it is correct but when we are converting sentences in English Language, I would prefer to write in much simpler manner. It's good to have a nice vocabulary but when I was giving my tests my teacher told me that to write in a simpler manner and I lose my marks because of that. Having good vocabulary can help in essay or when you're giving a speech other than that write in a simpler manner.
