Stuff NO ONE Warned Us About in MEXICO

Before traveling to Mexico, we learned a lot about Mexican culture. But we didn't find out about everything!

We wanted to be as prepared as possible before we dove into expat life, became migrants, and explored a completely foreign culture. What are Mexican roads like? What is life in Mexico like? We don't know perfect Spanish... Are Mexicans nice? These are just a few of the (what we now think are silly) questions we, as immigrants, were asking about this incredible country.
As Americans in Mexico - now that we've been traveling in Mexico for almost four months, we're reflecting on the stuff no one warned us about in Mexico.
These may be things that the average citizen considers normal facts about Mexico, but they were strange to us for a while. Some of them we still find a little difficult to navigate.
Despite all the research we did on Google, forums, Facebook groups, and everything else, there are just some things no one says about Mexico. Perhaps it's because after a while facts about life in Mexico just seem so commonplace that they don't need to be mentioned anymore. Whatever the case, we are sharing what no one told us about Mexico. That way, you have an idea what to know before traveling to Mexico! Alternately, you can get a few chuckles out of what a few gringos were confused about when they first came to Mexico!
