We each had 45 minutes to take on their huge 5lb Stromboli Challenge, stuffed with at least 3 toppings each, in order to win our meals for free, groovy t-shirts, and spots up on Papa Piccione's Stromboli Wall of Fame!

It’s just how it cooked.. they weigh everything out before cooking. Challenges like this either have a written or verbal contract stating the rules and how much everything weighs/portion size. Sure sometimes there are a few shady places that change sizes and all without notice but that’s not the case here.

I believe a stromboli has sauce inside and a calzone has sauce on the side. I could be mistaken, but that's what I've been told. I love them both!

The difference between stromboli and a calzone is ricotta cheese. :)

Calzone is made with a circular dough folded in half over the ingredients while a stromboli starts as a reactangle dough and rolled over itself over the toppings. Rhey both have sauce on the inside and calzones usually have ricotta

I’ve never got a calzone with sauce on the inside; they always present it on the side. Every Stromboli I’ve ordered has had sauce inside.

The major difference between a calzone and a stromboli is how they are sealed. ... You seal a stromboli by rolling it in a spiral and folding some extra dough back over the stromboli. Both get an egg wash to make sure the dough stays out. Calzones, sliced in half, are smaller and shaped like half-circles.

Calzone also doesn’t contain sauce and has ricotta cheese inside.

Calzone is from Naples 18th century America created the stromboli sometime later. Calzone - Pizza dough and Stromboli uses bread dough.
