Productivity (or lack thereof) is something I mentally struggle with too. I always think of the Pink Floyd line, “And then one day you find, ten years have got behind you. No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun.”

That line always hits me so hard. Also “Every year is getting shorter never seem to find the time, plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines, hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way.” I am 24. Trying my best to make the most out of these years before I wake up at 30 one day and wonder why I wasted my 20s getting shitfaced and doing blow. Nothing wrong with having some fun but I have been on a nonstop party since I was 13. Started actually focusing on my health and career and relationships like 2 years ago but I’m only really just now getting sort of good at actually paying attention to those things instead of just working really hard at that for a few months and then going back to my old ways. We all got this! Just gotta try to live the best you can and understand there will always be some suffering but if you worry about it all the time then you will constantly suffer. If you accept it you are free to live your life without fear.

When I was 30 years old people in my family told me I had depression, I did not believe that or understand that at all because I had fun times and hobbies. Later in my life I realize how obvious it is that I've been living with depression for decades. I believe O'Connor is facing a similar dilemma. He likely has a mild and manageable form of depression and needs to recognize that so it doesn't spiral. Thankfully he has lots of friends and people who care about him in his life. I find him to be so funny and enjoy everything he does. As far as an O'Connor solo podcast, I would like to just see coffee with O'Connor. Where he goes out everyday just for a morning cup of coffee and shares it with us. As simple as that, that will be incredible. Maybe get a photographer. And when people piss him off he can rant about it, or if he's happy he can ponder his happiness. Anyway sorry for the long comment. Love the pod.

Around 12.45 in to the show is why I love this pod. About this time watch how both Ian and Tommy lean in to actually hear what Cris is saying because they both really care and that's why I feel that this group of guys that moved down to Texas and the other bro's/dawgs , that they are different than other comedians. I know money is the main attraction but with these guys they want you to succeed with them and they don't freaking care if you make more or any of the BS . It feels like they know the money's going to come and the bigger their group is when comedy starts to come back to earth, the better in the long run they all will be. Sorry for the essay and 8 know this is an old pod but this was one of those pods when you get to see " the why" of it all . Thanks for a great podcast. Started watching Gillis stayed for The Shaman but ended up watching Tommy Pope and Cris O'Connell for an hour and loving every second of it . I watch you guys while I'm a work at the Port of Anchorge because it feels SOOOOOO good getting paid to laugh my ass off most of my shift.

If I had to guess I think a permanent routine would help being "productive". Starting the day off right gives you momentum to tackle your goals for the day. I bet a lot of comedians struggle with this due to their work schedule. Take Sam Hyde's advice. If your work is as a self employed creative, you would be wise to approach your job in the same way a blue collar worker does
