It worked! Thanks for the cheese idea ❤ the hardest part was getting the ghosts to target juuust the right spot for 4 nukes to kill the celebrate. Lots of save scumming for that, but I liked not having to deal with torresque

Beating this mission is worth it just for the Starship Troopers parody at the end. Also, what does it say about my teenage self that I never thought to immediately expand to the mineral field right next to my main despite turtling being my go-to strategy at the time?

Fantastic early game strat, I'm borrowing it. Instead of the barracks/nuke, the safe way to do this is 1-2 factory into 4 bcs, yamato down red, expand, then brown. I'll try the 3 cc fast expand

The easiest way is indeed to build mass BCs, and then just yamato the cerebrate from the same angle as I did. Ghosts are just a few minutes faster.

Nukes are also a pretty good and "inexpensive" way to deal with the red Cerebrate because the path to its base lacks air defenses, so a Dropship with Ghosts can easily sneak on the cliffs north of your main and drop a pair of nukes. Brown is, sadly, largely nuke-proof. While there is a relatively easy way to put troops near the line of Spore Colonies guarding the back of the base, Overlords also like to hang around the edge of the cliffs where the Cerebrate is at, so your Ghosts are gonna get spotted. So either Yamato or bring a bunch of Siege Tanks with Marine support, and either Wraiths or a Science Vessel to deal with potential Guardians, is your best bet.

I am currently trying to duplicate this. This strat seems highly based on computer RNG (i.e. where they choose to attack you: if they hit your expansion with that 12 zergling rush early on, you may as well restart the mission). Got tired of this, and I ended up taking a longer approach and made my move at ~30:00 instead of straight away. Built up 4 CCs in my main and mined it out. Saved with the dropships at the tiny island in NE of map. EVERY TIME I drop, the ghosts start attacking the spore colonies. Tried waiting for cloak to research and cloaking them before they go in the dropship, but they still start fighting as soon as they exit because the dropship is taking dmg. This queues the computer up to respond far sooner than is ideal, and the fact that the game has gone on so long means that they have tons of units and overlords ready to drop on the ghosts as they laser the target. I know that it is also because my control of my units isn't where it needs to be (i.e. sometimes when i put them into the corners to nuke as close to the cerebrate as possible, I click 'over the line' and pathing makes them walk away from where I want them because they think I'm telling them to go on top of the ridge. Later game also means queens, which ensnare your ghosts and make it take even longer to get them into position. It's a micro nightmare for those with low skill lvl. All this to say, how many tries did it take you to get this run?

I finished this mission and did have siege tanks in place with bunkers and took down the torrasque quickly before it could attack my bunker scattered some vulture spider mines too

It only spawns after 10 mins, then every 5 mins afterwards iirc He beat the mission before torrasque even arrived XD

For me it tooke 1h 9 min. defeating the red, the brown and then the orange
