They don't make shows like this anymore. What a fun and hilarious show that had its roots as a local show in Los Angeles before becoming Pantomime Quiz as a perennial summer replacement show throughout the 1940s and 1950s. Mike Stokey was a great host, keeping order among the celebrities.

When the world had CLASS

Originally broadcast on 1963-Sep-09 on CBS, however this version of the episode is actually from a 1964 syndication package. One can tell the difference based upon the sponsor and commercials. The 1963 episodes are sponsored by Ralston-Purina (i.e. Rice Chex) and the 1964 syndicated episodes are sponsored by Colgate-Palmolive (i.e. Ajax).

I had thought the 1964 syndicated version was all-new episodes. However, it's possible that a few reruns of the best episodes from the 1962-63 network run were included.

Why does KZbin have to put ads in the middle of the charade?

Ill health knocked both Roger Smith and Richard Long off 77 Sunset Strip. Smith had a stroke and Long had a heart attack, neither of them 35 yet.. Very weird. (Smith got myasthenia gravis but lived until about 5 years ago in his 80s. Long died of his heart problems in 1974, age 47.)

I can't believe these people can actually act some of these things out and the guessers actually get them. Some of them are HARD. "Pine scented cockroaches???" And Long on his knees and his eyes so big trying to get them from roaches to cockroaches is hilarious.

What kind of tie does Roger or Ross have?
@starababa1985 Жыл бұрын
That was a crisscross tie that snapped together in the center. They were popular in the 60s, but were mostly seen on school uniforms.

Beverly Garland and Ruta Lee really get excited doing this game with all that screaming and jumping up and down. I wonder do they get at least half as excited with their husbands' at home! How many cocktails do they have before these shows?

They are extroverts. This isn't a very good game for introverts, or for people who think slowly. Raymond Burr was good at answering correctly after not saying anything for awhile, but he used a lot of minutes doing nothing but thinking when it was his turn to act it out. You don't hear many Tom Swifties any more.

@@653j521 Raymond Burr was not a character actor. He played the same sort of character all the time, while people like Ross Martin and Richard Long played different characters throughout their careers. Character actors did better at charades
