Still watching but it's all about the sheaths. If you can't carry it comfortably and securely it really DOESN'T matter how great the knife is.

Great to see some fixed blade love!! Also happy to see BladeHQ getting back into it's video groove. This vid provides some great info with some some very realistic options offered up - something for everyone. FYI I use a number of my blades in the garden - RAT 1, Buck 110, Mora Companion and a couple of others - all really useful. I cut, slice, dig, scrape, etc no problem - just a little maintenance and they keep rocking. SRK is also a great option!! Sharp blades all.

Excellent vid, thank you. I've grown disgusted at the ridiculous prices of folders (don't care what steel or lock, a folder IS a TOOL w limitations). I unsubbed to many channels highlighting +$400 folders that aren't even available.. This was also fantastic AND refreshing not to see only $300+ fixed blades. Really, thank you for such great content AND exellent Presentation. Well done.

Thanks for the overview. I really appreciate you naming the Ruike Hornet. I think it's one of the most underrated small fixed blades on the market. From a practical use standpoint, it's got outstanding cutting performance, a useful and versatile blade shape, easy to sharpen/hone steel that's tough as nails and very stain resistant, a slim and compact form, a surprisingly ergonomic handle, and a versatile, effective polymer sheath. Also, it's a looker with clean, almost elegant lines. I'd honestly pick it over the Izula, Izula 2, BK 11, or the BK 14 any day.

Awesome show. I love fixed blades. I have 4 knives, but the 2 I use the most are my WINKLER CrusherBelt knife with rubber handles, and my TOOR and Scallywag Tactical collaboration knife called the MUTINY. It is cannon black, and CPM-154 steel that is seriously underrated. My favorite EDC, but my WINKLER is my favorite blade. The sheath is really awesome. It was $293.50 with my military discount. Winkler gives veterans 25% off the price. The TOOR/Scallywag tactical MUTINY was $350. I have another TOOR it is the FIELD 2.0 and that is a really great knife . It is a great EDC. Good luck with your blades I hope they treat you good!

I learned the same lesson the hard way. Since then,I have always taught my students to keep their fingers away from the cutting edge of the knife sheath, regardless of leather or kydex. Even after cutting yourself you kept fingers on that side of the sheath when removing or replacing the knife in the sheath. Hold it by the spine side wrapped around the side but clear of the cutting side.

Honestly, for outdoors bungling amateurs CPM 3V steel (toughest steel out there, you won't chip or break it, holds a good edge too). Blade Length, 4 to 5 inches, over that length is a military blade made to for piercing the abdomen in a hand to hand situation, and slipping up under the ribcage to puncture the heart. Keep your blade clean and dry and oiled). Plastic or kydex sheaths are best ( make sure there's a drain hole). The Benchmade Pukko is an excellent choice with that rubber grip and CPM3V steel. One very good knife under $200 that they didn't show was the Cold Steel Master Hunter in CPM 3V steel, 4.5 inch blade 3/16th thick, rubber handle with a good guard molded in, kydex sheath. Rubber handles last a good long time, and when they wear out you can have a beautiful wood or micarta handle put on of your choice, or whom ever inherits the knife. Remember, 4 or 5 inches blade length for a camp/ hunting knife, its the perfect length for bushcraft/ camp chores/hunting and skinning.

I purchased a knife on Amazon I tried for 30 remove it from the sheath and I couldn't now I have to return Amazon is and it's American made today I have to return it. Make it easy to just push it with your thumb and the blade comes you shouldn't have to use two hands to remove your blade.

When I delivered pizza I carried a CS SRK secured horizontally to my belt in front (belt buckled to the right of it). The rubberized grip worked with greasy hands or dishwater on it, the knife and sheath were black so it blended in with my uniform, in that position it was quickly and surreptitiously accessible with either hand in most situations while still concealing under my shirt, and it was still big enough to act as a decent deterrent if lethal action wasn't yet necessary. It wasn't a gun, but I worked with what was available to me.

George, congrats on finding your lane! I think you've been able to carve out a credible spot in the Knife Dealer vlog-host genre. I appreciate your experience in creating knife copy for Blade HQ, and it shows in your comments and passion for edged tools. Hard to do, authentically. I think you've gone past the awkward period, when Blade HQ was just trying out many guest hosts. Bring back Tomas Alas as your video foil. Just like Zac and Kurt had a video vibe, just like Ben and Zac had a video vibe. I think you are restoring the Blade HQ credibility

Gerber nailed it with the ambidextrous sheath. Would love to see more knifemakers do that and put more thought into their sheaths..
