Very tempted by this, however it’s a shame it comes with an NX group set. As you said you can get a Spectral 29 CF 7 for a similar price and that’s a carbon frame. Vitus Escarpe 29 CRX carbon frame full xt group set and fox factory suspension. Which would you recommend for a bike for riding everything. Bit of xc , mostly natural trails like Matlock black rocks , off piste and red and black trail centres. Thanks Dan
@GuyKesTV2 жыл бұрын
I've not ridden the most recent Escarpe but Al and Danny at MBR are excellent reviewers, and they gave it bike of the year so that's a real credit to it. The Spectral is damn good too though so you've already picked out the two I'd suggest. www.mbr.co.uk/reviews/full-suspension-bikes/vitus-escarpe-29-crx

Bought the carbon version in the end. Amazing bike. Seems a daft question but what size bottle fits in the bottle cage ?
@GuyKesTV2 жыл бұрын
@@danmccabe2004 I've just started reviewing the carbon comp and it's excellent isn't it! Definitely worth the extra cash. I'm running an S4 frame and I can get a full size bottle in fine. They should come with a little rubber bladder inside the frame so you can carry another bottle's worth internally too.

Torn between this and the Whyte t-140. I know they're quite different bikes but after having ridden a 29er for a while now and been wanting to go back 27.5 the mullet option, being able to change the geo and the lifetime frame warranty are making me lean towards this now. Head says this for value heart says the whyte for pure fun. Both similar price...

@@GuyKesTV Hiya Guy, thanks for the reply. So I live in the Ribble Valley and mainly ride local trails, about 4 or so hours and around 15 miles on average, its very hilly here so I usually ride big ascents followed by steep descents, mainly natural old bridle ways etc, a mixture of conditions, mainly rocky and muddy. I like technical more so than speed and flow trails, don't really like jumping the bike but I do like getting some speed up and going off drops. More of an adventure rider than bike parks but I do get to gisburn often and would like to get up to whinlatter soon. My ideal ride would probably be a day out in the lakes getting up in to the hills and back down to the pub.

I currently ride a 2020 norco fluid fs1 which I bought based on a review I read of yours. Love the bike but it was second hand and I wouldn't mind something new and a bit of an upgrade. I'm on the shorter side and as much as I like 29ers sometimes I do smack my backside on the rear wheel on some of the steeper stuff.
@GuyKesTV2 жыл бұрын
@@joeevans266 if you’re after a massively fun, good value, mullet bike for techy stuff but not massive stuff see if you can track down a shorter travel Specialized Status. They’re a bastard to find because Specialized don’t always list them on their websites but now they’re selling direct it might be easier. Glad the Fluid has served you well anyway 👍🏻
@joeevans2662 жыл бұрын
@@GuyKesTV thanks for that. I was actually looking at one of the lower travel status in a shop near windermere just before Christmas but they didn't have my size. One of the lads in there was telling me how specialized doesn't let them advertise them for some reason so nobody knows they have them, seems a bit odd. I'm due to go there soon anyway as I bought a specialized diverge and it's due its first service so il try and get some more research done and check it out again. Thanks again, love your reviews mate 👍

I'd love to hear how you think it compares to the Forbidden Druid. Your review of the Druid really made me consider that bike. I know the geo is probably a bit more conservative on the Druid, but it seems like they're aimed at the same kind of riding.
@GuyKesTV2 жыл бұрын
The Druid feels a lot more mobile and responsive - so more like a short travel trail bike - most of the time, but then sucks up big slap rocks and drops even better. Specialized feels a lot more neutral, lazy and easy going.
@rstrakovsky2 жыл бұрын
@@GuyKesTV gotcha, that makes sense. I'm only three rides in on my Druid and definitely like it's energetic trail manners, while still being able to smash through rocks and huck off stuff. The Stumpy Evo looks great too though!
@GuyKesTV2 жыл бұрын
@@rstrakovsky it is great but it definitely sounds like you got the right one with the Druid. Stumpy (like most Specialized) is a passenger bike not a pilot bike if you know what I mean?

Thanks Guy I really enjoyed this video review. I just bought one, partly on the strength of your review! Can I ask you what pressure you would recommend running in the tyres (as supplied ie non tubeless) for everyday trail traction? Thanks for any help
@GuyKesTV2 жыл бұрын
Hey Robin, glad you found it helpful. What weight are you and how rocky are the trails you're riding? Also do you regularly do large drops or jumps? Knowing how you ride will help me give a more accurate pressure suggestion

Great views (yess!) great review... but GuyKes ... how can I really justify: a) Enduro Comp 2020 carbon - 15,7 kg 170/170mm - 4.260 GBP vs. b) Stumpy Alloy Elite 2022 - 15,7kg - 5.372 GBP? In other words, although Fox 36 Kashima and DPX2 Kashima are good.... you end up with Stumpy Alloy Elite with 160mm travel instead of .... Enduro comp with very 'pedal bob' proof 6-point suspension.

Great review, Guy! I look at the Specialized Stumpjumper as the VW Golf of mountain bikes…evolution than revolution! Would the “Evo” be the GTI variant??! I used to have the 26-inch ‘07 Stumpjumper FSR Comp. It had 120mm travel front and rear. Loved that thing and had it until 2020 when I sold it to make room for a Yeti SB140. I’ve since mulleted it for more trail fun! Keep up the great work.

@@GuyKesTV Aye, I’m pleased with it. Dropped the fork from 160 to 150 with the 29er wheel. Was after a mini-enduro/trail + affair, but didn’t really like the “sit-in” feel of a full 29-er. Can’t really justify anything as heavy duty as a SB150. Haha….I’m sure that’ll change in time, but I’ve kept the 27.5 wheel and the 160 fork, so the way I see it, I get a two-for-one! 🙂
