@Srselfdefense3 жыл бұрын
@@angel-rq4fz It is far easier to fight through a stun gun than it is to fight through a TASER. A TASER will lock you up for the whole cycle, completely immobilizing you. A stun gun has to be held down on the target, which can be pushed off by a strong, enraged individual.
@JoyZofSoRRoW3 жыл бұрын
I understand why there is such confusion. I'm old enough to remember before the "Taser" brand existed. Taser was the common word used for what we now called Stun Gun. It's ironic to give them the names they have now considering their method of function.
@Srselfdefense3 жыл бұрын
Agreed. The TASER, like many brands, is at risk of becoming a genericized brand because folks refer to it so much as a stun gun. All TASERs are stun guns, but not all stun guns are TASERs. The pain compliance vs. neuromuscular capacitation (NMI) piece is arguably the most distinguishing factor, aside from range (close proximity vs. long range).

The Taser is great if there is only one attacker, so if you have another attacker, that one is still coming at you. The stun gun can be redirected at the second attacker. The Taser, for a lone civilian, creates a sense of false security in an probably unrealistic scenario. So, bottom line, with the stun gun, and I've tried a few on myself with some help, will serve the purpose of NMI given that it is specifically used in, for example, the hip, after that, like you said, if the person isn't terrified of the thing, he's coming again and you cannot expect to get that close again. Bottom line, if you have limited physical self-defense skills, a secondary or perhaps a primary tool, is pepper spray. Either way, I never recommend a "one and done" option where you put your attacker down and run, he's going to get up and out run you.
@Srselfdefense3 жыл бұрын
The TASER is good for TWO targets IF you are using an X2 device, do not miss and are able to penetrate 2 inches of clothing or less. Those are the drawbacks. Every product has a false sense of security attached to it. Pepper spray, TASERs, even a firearm. Proper training and use of situational awareness should be the focus for any weapon. Trotting through life willy nilly without an action plan or trained response system is not a wise move. That is what gets people hurt: complacency and lack of preparation. We always recommend having a backup option, in case the primary choice fails. Pepper spray for sure. Definitely a smart move.

It's the opposite a Stun Gun is in the shape of a gun and shoots bards through wires at up to 25 meters away hence why it's called a Stun Gun. A Taser is square shape with 2 bards at each end . A Stun Jack or Stun Rod is a pipe shape device similar to a Catle Prod. Police Flash Lights are referred to as a Stun Rob or Stun Jack . A Stun Jack is shorter than a Stun Rod also known as a Stun Prod . A Pepper Jack is a multi purpose device that shoots Peper Spray up to 5 meters and can also be used as a Stun Jack.

I saw the video and the product online. Wouldn't put my life on it. There's a reason it's so cheap: easy to break, no product support (from China), no documented studies (may kill someone or just be ineffective altogether). I also noticed a comment saying that it uses gunpowder...if so, definitely an ATF issue (would make it classified as a firearm). kzbin.info/www/bejne/fqLZn2eEe7Cnga8 As they say, you get what you pay for! If you're going with an electronic control device, stick with the TASER. Overpriced as hell due Axon's monopoly of the market, but at least you know what you're getting! And you have someone to go to if things go wrong.

It's much more important to know that voltage ratings are fake. Stun Guns are rated in microculombs (uC). So, do your research and you'll find that Sabre is the only one willing to share test results from a lab. Cool.
@Srselfdefense2 жыл бұрын
Voltage, for the most part, is marketing bullshit. It has its role, but amperage is what kills. Microculombs is part of the equation, but is also just another way for manufacturers to market stun guns. If you check out the comments section under SABRE's video, you will find that their analysis is "incomplete", according to those who have degrees in physics: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d2TFc4xvZrilfpI
@OregonDARRYL2 жыл бұрын
@@Srselfdefense Well, voltage can't be trusted, so I'm going with uC. The video you linked said "microculombs is THE way to measure stun guns." I agree.
@Srselfdefense2 жыл бұрын
@@OregonDARRYL Yes, I linked that video because I'm pretty sure that's what you were referencing when you mentioned microcoulombs and SABRE. If that works for you, cool. For the average person, stick with amperage. I'd argue that most manufacturers will not have a "microcoulomb" count to provide. Do your research/due diligence when looking for a stun gun product. A TASER, of course, will always be the superior choice.
@OregonDARRYL2 жыл бұрын
@@Srselfdefense None of the makers I know of mention amperage. I know ohm's law. Amps times volts equals watts, which is energy. So, until the other manufacturers stop playing games with all the voltage lying - I'll buy Sabre. NONE of the others gives third party LAB results. And we both know why. Microculombs is "equivalent" to watts... and they don't want to talk about the REAL energy in their products.
@Srselfdefense2 жыл бұрын
@@OregonDARRYL Agreed about the voltage scam, but I believe some manufacturers are catching on. They play off each other. Mace Security International and Yellow Jacket mention microcoulombs: www.mace.com/blogs/stun-gun-tips/what-are-microcoulombs yellowjacketcase.com/blogs/news/does-power-pain Wouldn't be a bad idea to reach out and ask if they have lab reports. Mace claims to have their stun guns independently tested and engineered by Rassettica Testing Limited, so they must have lab reports.
