Geek... you don't have a bigger hit box. Going up near corners pushes you to the side. Watching frame by frame you can literally see Toad move to the side before getting hit.

I watched dgr and now geek play this level and I JUST realized what the "trust" was. If you didn't collect the mushroom and trusted the muncher it would kill you before you cp1 yourself.

Why didn't it kill it? The answer is surprisingly simple. A pow activated by something other than mario only has a limited range to hit enemies. Shells thrown by mario will have the larger kill radius, but shells propelled by springs without mario's input have the reduced range.

the pow thing, pows destroy everything on the screen, but not necessarily on the player screen, if the pow was triggered in some way by the player, it will be the player screen, but if it was just a random shell that git it, it's going to be the screen around the pow
