Honestly - it’s not reflected in the video but we hand scraped this floor in tandem for roughly 30 man hours in total - that wasn’t including the weighted orbital sander we used on the tiles in the main hall! The porch was the easiest and even that was 10 hours work! I do question my sanity at the half way point on EVERY one of these jobs BUT, the results are always so satisfying and client reactions are so great that it makes it worth it!

Glad I found you today! Just bought a lovely townhome in REALLY bad shape I'll be renovating. This lady is no handyman by any means, but I am pretty good at tiling. This is my first attempt at rescuing tile already in place however and I wasn't sure exactly how to do it. We're on the same page about cleanliness! Thanks so much for showing me what to do and I've now subscribed as I'll just bet you can teach me ow to do some other items as I get to them. THANK YOU!

Couple ways you can cut out some of that glare since you asked. 1. Use a polarizing filter on your lens. 2. Add more light to the areas in shadow to reduce the contrast by using a reflector or flood lights

Thank you for your video! I want to restore 1950's cement tiles in a french home, all those tips are very welcomed. I'll go on with a hand scraper, I'm not sure if I'm dealing with former sealant. It doesn't LOOK that it needs the big machine, but I'll see, if needed I'll rent one.

This is so interesting & satisfying to watch, plus you have a very soothing voice I could go to sleep hahaha. But I need to know if you did under the fridge & dishwasher. Im sorry, I tried to move on but my head just needs to know whats happening underneath those appliances. What about those tiles? Did they get love too or did they have to stay with the crappy 'wrong sealant' (I was listening) for the rest of their days???🤣😂🤣😂🤣

What products did you use for this please. I have a Welsh long house (3 bed bungalow) and want to restore the Quarry tile right through the house. Most of the damage is cement and salt from people having unbreathable carpet on it. Thanks
@CleaningHowTo
@CleaningHowTo 2 жыл бұрын
You'll need to ascertain if the tiles are sealed; if they are use a solvent stripper - I used faber ones here: Cotto Solve & Dec 21. If they arent sealed a good scrub with a high PH floor cleaner and then an acid bathe (brick/muriatic acid) will deal with the cement and salts - a lump hammer can be of benefit also, and decent scrappers/chisels. Let me know how it goes!! They dont really 'pop' until sealed so dont be disheartened if they're dull before sealing.

Beautiful job. I'm I'm motivated to restore the tiles on my floor now. It was previously peed and defecated on by neglected dogs of the tenant over a long period. To disinfect and clean, a lot of corrosive chemicals were used including nitric or hydrochloric acid (aguafuerte/salfumante in Spanish) which have discoloured the tiles. I guess I need to first determine what kind of tiles they are...

Amazing work! I'm in the middle of scraping bitchumen from the quarry tiles in my ground floor victorian apartment, some of the tiles are a bit broken (seem to have been ground away, not cracked), is there anything you can recommend to fix this? Do you have an email address to send some photos to as I'd really appreciate some advice!!! thanks :)

Hi, great work and great videos! Sorry to bother you as I'm sure you are very busy. I have a house down in Wexford with quarry tiles in front of the house and back. I've cleaned them with steal brushes several times but was wondering would you know if there is something I could do to bring out the colour and give them a bit of shine. I also have ones in the hall way, so indoors . Would you have any advice about giving them a bit more shine? Feilimidh
