Love the radial blur in the sky

You're an excellent teacher Colin. Lots of important concepts in this lesson. One "quick tip" I did not know was how to temporarily unlink a layer to move. That made my day! Finally, my preference is the sky without the blur. -Thanks!

Great tutorial as always, Colin! I could seriously spend 48 hours a day (LOL) playing with this stuff. Who needs sleep, anyway? 😉

Liked the radial blur at the end to show cloud movement, since the water had indicated a longer exposure. That way, you've 'tied the major elements of the photo (sky, water) together for a more realistic image

The Zoom Blur seemed more appropriate for the long exposure. Great tutorial.

Hello again and thank you for another great tutorial. This new sky replacement feature has HUGE potential and really is great fun to use! It was helpful to see the method taken further too. As usual, your calm but very confident and professional method of teaching is greatly appreciated.

Another great tutorial Colin - matching the color, adding the reflection, and applying the gradient gave me more tools for my toolbox. Tried it on one of my landscape shots and am very happy with the results.

Thank you Colin, Adding the blur to the sky and the water made a big difference

Love this technique, it almost makes “big stopper” filters redundant because now I can get the long exposure effect without all the weird colour issues I get using the filter. 👍

Great Tutorial, one of my favourite areas of NZ
@thomasrobinson89884 жыл бұрын
Great tutorial Colin, very well explained, made relatively simple by your easy way of explaining how to do this step by step, and not assuming that we are all photoshop experts. I have some issues with seriously changing how an original image looks, and I would prefer to not make drastic changes to my original image. I have been to Milford Sound 3 or 4 years ago, and it is a stunning location, as is all of NZ. I like the effect of motion blur in the sky, and I use filters to get these effects, as I rather enjoy doing this at the time of taking the photo, as opposed to post processing. But I guess there is no right of wrong, all photography that involves processing is manipulation, some more than others however. I enjoy watching your videos as I feel I do learn quite a lot of very useful techniques as part of the post processing work flow.

Colin, good tutorial as always. Why not make the sky and reflection into smart objects so you could adjust the blu if you wanted? Thx.

Fantastic Tutorial learnt something new. I notice that the reflection in the water is not covering it all.
@photoshopcafe4 жыл бұрын
It doesn't matter, you just need to sell the effect. People don't normally see the before image, you can paint in the mask if you want to apply it to more of the image, or select the water, lots of things you could do, but I think this tut is long enough :)

Hi Colin...I love your work and I have learned a few things from your tuts. I am an aerial photographer and my customers are always asking me to "fix" their photos. The most common requests I get are to green up the grass because of drought. Any easy fixes for this?
@davidholdstock4 жыл бұрын
Hello:) You could use a hue/saturation adjustment layer and select just the green and correct the colour that way. Alternatively, you could use a colour balance adjustment (again, as a layer so it is done non-destructively). You could even select the area you want to edit and simply add a solid colour adjustment layer and set it (the adjustment layer, not the image) to 'colour' blend mode. Another method would be to the new rather wonderful colour alteration panels in Camera Raw (applied as a filter in Photoshop or with the image loaded into Camera Raw from another Adobe program such as 'Bridge'). There are many different ways to work with colour in Photoshop. Hope this helps! :)

I have Photoshop 2020 and it doesn't have sky replacement that I can find. Am I right?
@biancadupont29314 жыл бұрын
very helpful. thank you. However I wonder what the "new" AI's will do to make this much easier but this is a much simpler method than looking at RGB and playing with it that way. I like that your tutorials are short and that you are able to show the viewer where to find things- so many of these tutorials you have to watch billions of times cause they talk so fast and don't explain it very well.
@ManoChandraDhas4 жыл бұрын
@PhotoshopCAFE Question: Colin, would you go through this process in the begining of a process on an image or at the end? Or, it does not matter? 😊
@photoshopcafe4 жыл бұрын
Interesting question, Id do it at the beginning, because otherwise all your color work would be wasted.
@BobG-eh5fc4 жыл бұрын
Thanks, prefer the movement, but less.
@seannorton694 жыл бұрын
Liked it without, but an excellent tutorial.
@collinpotratz7504 жыл бұрын
Two major issues: First, you should have aligned the reflections to the horizon instead of the middle of the photo. Second, you probably should have mirrored the mountains in the reflections as well.
@photoshopcafe4 жыл бұрын
Could I have made this more perfect? Absolutely. Would I want to make a tutorial more complicated? Absolutely not.
