When I play this for people who haven’t heard it I always say to pay attention to the three “all of me” repeats - all different and all breath-taking. I think we all battle for words when trying to describe Dan's amazing performances. There is something so special about them. There's intensity, beautiful voice and excellent breath control. He also has the ability to dramatize when necessary. I've been so blessed to have been able to enjoy Dan's music and can't wait for his new songs to come out. I've heard covers of this song before, and I've probably listened to the original a thousand times, but this version hit me right in the chest from the very first line. I don't even think I know what about it affected me so, but I'm sitting here with a heaviness in my heart and the warmth of tears in my eyes. It is beautiful and haunting, bittersweet like the memory of a childhood friend or an old love. The original is such an amazing song. This is better.

Hey Viking, I can totally understand your feelings here. When I heard this cover from Dan for the first time, I was in tears. Even though I knew the original Evanescence, Dan just triggered a feeling that I didn't have with Amy Lee's version, (even though I've been a big fan of Evanescence for a long time and love listening to them). I first heard Dan sing Amazing Grace. I was in tears of sadness because of releasing grief I wasn't aware was still inside me . By the end of that hymn I felt a joy I haven't felt for years. My logical mind said WOW this young man can sing. I very much enjoy his music and the timbre of his voice is so much his own as well as being very well trained and amazingly powerful. I don't have all the words to describe the impact his voice has on me either Viking. He impresses me greatly with his skill but there is something else that is visceral . I did not know this song. I wish I had known and I would have been prepared because I lost, way too early, the most wonderful man in the world, and then, our two eldest sons, as young adults, were called home as well. Without their Dad, I had to be the strong one for my younger children so burying my grief was how I coped. This song hit me suddenly and it hit me hard. Sometimes, though, a person needs something that allows the grief to surface, to be acknowledged again because it is too easy to just bury it and I had buried it so deep. Dan did it right. Thank you, Viking and Dan Vasc. I needed that.

Thanks for this great reaction. I watch a lot of youTube videos, and I see a lot of people "looking into the camera" but they don't reach my soul the way that Dan does. There is something in his eyes that goes deeper that just looking into the camera. Bring me to Life is another song that affects me this way, and no doubt there are others that I can't bring to mind right now.
