Great review Steven. I've started the New Year determined to invest in fewer fragrances but of a higher quality; this very much includes Roja. So I've pushed the button on Burlington 1819, Isola Blue and Oceania with a view to Spring being just around the corner. Manhattan is definitely on my wishlist though.

Some folks seem almost personally offended by reviewers who develop content on frags they have not purchased. Ultimately, I don’t care how reviewers get fragrances. First, I’m only concerned about my own wallet. Next, I’m not the ethics police. Finally, I follow quite a few reviewers. They are diverse in taste, brand and appeal. I would consider myself gullible to buy ANYTHING based on reviews, whether bought or not by the content provider. I know my tastes as well as my standards and I ALWAYS do my research when considering a reviewer recommendation. Others may consider doing the same. Regardless of the source, I appreciate the information provided for consideration, whether I’m being introduced to an unfamiliar frag or something I wore years ago (since reformulation IS a legit consideration). Thanks to all of the reviewers. A few of you do not appeal to me for various reasons but I still appreciate your hustle and choice to inform. The rest is up to me. 👍🏽

Nice review! I just picked it up and love it. It reminds me of Xerfoff Starlight less the cardamom, with tobacco and pine added. The coconut gives it that milky quality in Starlight. So maybe 2/3 Starlight, 1/3 Herod, with pine added for lift and contrast. Also has an airy feel like BR 540 and dries down to something resinous and almost salty like Xerjoff 40 Knots and then finally smells like Enigma Parfum deep into its dry down. I love it because I find Herod and Enigma Parfum both remind me of old men in suits standing at a bar smoking and was looking for a more youthful take on a tobacco fragrance. This fits the bill 100%!

Trini, if you’re new to watching fragrance reviews, it is quite common to hear advice regarding what seasons a scent may be most appropriate for. Very strong fragrances with longevity and good silage are more preferable for colder temperatures. Heavier/denser notes like spice, leather, tobacco, incense, and wood put one in mind of getting cozy inside (like a ski chalet by a fireplace) whereas lighter notes like sea salt, floral, citrus, grass/vetiver, and so on are better suited for summer weather. Think about sitting down for a lunch outdoors at a restaurant with a group of people on a very hot day in August. The people sitting around you could potentially get a headache if you were wearing a very heavy fragrance vs. a light and delicate scent (both of which I gave examples of earlier). The key word is “delicate”. A very soft floral note won’t be as perceptible when it’s very cold outside because heat intensifies the fragrance to the point where a very heavy note like tobacco could be overwhelming on a very hot day. I hope that helps! 🤷🏼‍♂️
