I'm not a fan of normal sized boomerangs because they're uncomfortably forceful and usually pretty shaky. But I really wanna get on a giant one. The forces seem a lot more tolerable and the drops look epic.

In 2011 I was able to catch Déjà Vu at SFMM before it was taken down and moved to SFNE (and the original Vekoma train being replaced by a Premier train after that). Safe to say, that ride kicked my ass and then some. In my most humblest opinion, MOST EXTREME SHUTTLE COASTER EVER. 💯

Loved this at great america. Crowd favorite when it was open. It always stalled between the second tower and the vertical loop becuase the cable wouldnt catch. Unnecessarily complicated lift system but made the ride so fun and it seems to work in other places so it must have been a weather issue in chicago? But even when it was open, the ride was just way too popular w too low a capacity

I got to look at one of these at Six Flags Great America back in 2007. But it was closed and I was unable to ride it. What a bummer.

I rode the Dejavu at Great America in Gurnee IL. I remember it having lots of maintenance issues, I remember when it first opened too, I saw them put on the wheels on the top and the cables. I thought it was one of the coolest looking rides I had ever seen. It looked like if a roller coaster was a sports car. First time I rode it, I had no clue the air time was so intense. All that force of the train pulling you straight down by it's own weight makes your stomach float in your body 1000%. This isn't a beginner ride at all. I actually think inverted impulses from intamin are way more mellow than any giant boomerang. Glad I had a chance to ride it before it got moved. Same thing with the Iron wolf (aka the ball buster).

Not only that, I think that in true Vekoma fashion (well, old-school Vekoma, lol) that complicated lift system, both forward and backward, made some of the most VEKOMA-esque sounds ever. That howl from the motors and how it stopped before the train was released either way let you know you were in for some serious s**t 😆😆😆 And yes, the Déjà Vu clone that was at my home SF park (Magic Mountain) had similar issues; the Giant Inverted Boomerang was after all a prototype model
