Their Sons Of Third Bass track was a direct diss towards the Beasties, calling them a "Def Jam sellout." Ad Rock and Serch did a dance off for DMC's glasses, and Serch won.

The song that made me like them is "Pop goes the weasel". The song uses the sample of Peter Gabriel's "Sledgehammer " song! That song made me want to get their 2nd album. I still have it to this day! By just watching this episode if anyone would want the 3 of them to have a reunion or a new album to be made ITS NOT HAPPENING EVER!! I never knew tensions with them were that bad! I now have to start watching the rest of their videos to see what they're about because Pop goes the weasel was the only video I've seen from them. Time to go down memory lane! Thanks for this update!

Sech and Pete HATE each other - look up 3rd Bass argument on Lord Sear radio show, they argued on phone conference for several minutes, wasn't a joke, you can hear the hatred for each other - also in an interview on Sway Serch said they didn't make one penny on the Cactus Album, they didn't clear those samples and the profits paid off other artists - one of my favorite groups as a kid, Steppin to the AM and Gasface and Booklyn Queens and Product of the environment was my jam, but I doubt they will reunite - I'm not speaking from opinion, look up their interview and argument videos, they say this stuff themselves....

Well they suffered what a lot of white rappers been through back then wasn't tooken seriously....Back then it wasn't cool to be a white MC unless they could bring it differently that was already out. According to "Non Phixion's" "Necro" he said "MC Serch" always had an ego....he thought he was rap's answer to game. Then after the whole "MC Hammer" incident...that's when they faced internal problems between "Serch" & "Pete". Let's face it when "NWA" dropped & with their success...it force a lot of us on the East Coast to be down or lay down mentality. Maybe they didn't want to go the gangsta rap direction i really dug "The Cactus Album...The production on that album was sick..."Prince Paul" did some beats...."Downtown Science's " "Sam Sever" done amazing work on the "Directs Of Dialects" album....But unfortunately it wasn't enough for them to keep the group going.... 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

ROFL you guys may need to take a hip-hop history class. 1. It's the Tina's Teena Maria raps on square biz. And Tina Weymouth bassist for the talking heads raps on Genuis of Love. Then its George Micheals (Wham Rap 1982,83) Then its Captain Sensible (Wot 1982, 1983), then its Falco Rock me Amadeus. Then it's the Bestie Boys.

Deborah Harry's raps on the Blonde song "Rapture" was before Tina Marie's "Square Biz", so she was the first white person to make a hit rap song.

@signalhilltv5237 Was she spitting that heat? Nah, but she was down with Fab 5 Freddy and The Funky 4 Plus 1. In fact she demanded that if SNL wanted Blondie on the show, they had to put The Funky 4 Plus 1 on and they became the first rap group to appear on SNL, so she was closer to hip-hop culture than Teena Marie was (and Teena clearly had the better bars)!
