This song is inspired by the reconstruction in Solu-Khumbu following the 2015 Nepal earthquake. In some areas entire villages were destroyed. It was a sad period. Stupas were one of the most commonly damaged community structures. Villagers said that scenes of collapsed stupas made them the saddest. Just like the surrounding snow peaks, stupas are a prominent part of the mountain villages. They are symbols of spirituality and stability. As a result, damaged stupas were built back bigger and better in many places with generous donations of labor, materials and money from many individuals and organizations. Sincere gratitude to the builders of the stupas.
May the stupas continue to remind us of the core teachings of the Buddha - suffering, impermanence and selflessness.
