I ride my self and get cut off once in a while but I don't rage over it. >90% of the time it's unintentional Mistkes happen and motorcycles are overlooked quite easily. Every biker should be aware of that.

It is explicitly illegal in other states, like North Carolina though there it is because bikes aren't allowed to pass on the right. Car, truck, or bike: every vehicle is entitled to the entire lane. Stop doing stupid and dangerous stuff and then being surprised when stupid dangerous stuff happens. At the end of the day, physics won't care about your opinion on whether you're allowed to split lanes or not.

Same argument could be made that if drivers used their mirrors bikes wouldn’t be cut off. Speeding or not why would you switch lanes in front of someone if you see them getting close to you. Not justifying the speeding. But it’s like walking in front of a semi. Technically the pedestrian has the right of way but was it smart for them to step in front of a 20 ton chunk of metal doing 45 mph towards them. Probably not. So if you see a bike speeding up on you. Just Let them pass before you switch lanes. They’re clearly going faster than you and will be out of your way in 5 seconds.

Because when youre lane splitting 15 mph faster than everyone else and hid behind cars, unless someone has xray vision they won't see you. They will think the coast is clear because you should be moving at the speed limit, and then when they look again you're right up on them because you were not.

So it IS the responsibility of the car driver to make sure the way is clear before changing lanes and stuff. I’m not going back to watch the clip again but so I don’t know how many lanes there was. But some places also have restrictions on lane splitting down the shoulders of the roads. But my whole comment wasn’t about him getting hit. Lane splitting isn't illegal, like the guy at 6:30 is doing, but just because it's not illegal doesn't mean that you should expect others to get out of your way to make it easier. Also, if you do lane split and you get into an accident, you are automatically at fault, at least where I live.

This depends on where you are (although regardless of where you are, don't text and drive even if it's legal). In my state, for example, it's perfectly legal for me to hold my phone to my ear with one hand and drive with the other (as long as I'm over 18 and not driving a school bus). I think its even legal for bikers although I'd assume most of them use bluetooth helmet speakers because of the wind.
