No it wasn't. There were 12 lines before he made it to the intersection. Federal guidelines for all roadways state that every time you pass a yellow line you have gone 40 feet. We always expect cars drivers to never have driven a bike and always never pay enough attention to us so we can always be "ready" for anything and anticipate. Better than braking that will never let you redirect to avoid obstacles. As A cyclist I understand the frustration from being ignored when signaling for someone to wait to pass... On the other hand, given that it's a bike that doesn't even need to leave the lane to do so, I wouldn't have signaled as such in that particular situation. Emotions were clearly running high on both sides, but the cyclist is far less justified in this case from my perspective.
