100% EVs is a pipe dream. The electric grid couldn't support it. They have a limited range, therefore are good only for short range travel. They're to expensive. They do as much damage to the environment as gas cars. Technology will one day achieve the next generation of travel. It's not today's EVs.

I am 68 yrs. old. I have issues running my cell phone, But I do 90% of the maintenance on my auto's. I also maintain up-keep and make improvements on my house that was built in 1965! My hobbies are gardening and woodworking! Common sense stuff! I have an 11 yr. old 4runner that I bought used! I put less than 2000 miles a year on it. I rarely drive more than 40 miles from home. I could easily drive an EV. Will NOT own one! The cost of a new battery is the price of it's replacement! Yes, America is going to need more electricity. I love hydro electric, but I feel there could be minimal expansion over the current plants producing! Many of the wind and solar fields are being built on 100's of thousands of acres of valuable farm land! The wind mills, kill birds, the solar panels are subject to hail and more! But the public is told these projects are "green"? BS! I am a Republican, I will be voting for the third time for Trump, and I agree with him, DRILL, BABY DRILL! The gas and oil America produces is the cleanest in the world! Biden has stopped the US from selling N. GAS, has severely depleted our countries Strategic Oil Reserves just to lower gas prices! And after the devastating debate on 6/27/24, how can anyone trust the Democratic Party to run this country?

I wonder how long it would take to drive Route 66 in an electric vehicle. Average recharge time 90 minutes I understand, limited range(100miles?). Modern petrol/diesle car(mine averages 50mpg) and holds 11gallons(UK) so 500miles and a 10 minute refuel break. Sales in the UK of EVs already crashing and second hand prices rock bottom says ir all.

We have the same crazy policies with the lefties in Europe. After 2030, NO ONE is allowed to drive a diesel or petrol car. It must then be an electric car, which is far too expensive. Most citizens will have to drive a horse and cart or by bicycle. My car (EURO 5) will be banned from next year in different cities! More than 600,000 victims in the capital Brussels alone. Too much CO2 emissions. But I do have to pay annual car tax, which increases every year, because my car, regardless of the number of kilometers, causes damage to the roads. An electric car easily weighs twice as much as a thermal car, but no annual tax is required for that. As if it wasn't crazy enough, those who buy an electric car in our small country (Belgium with 11 million inhabitants, with a debt mountain of more than 500 billion euros) receive a premium of 5000 euros. CAN IT BE ANY CRAZIER? Yes, of course ,nothing is impossible with the lefties. A few weeks ago our government gave another billion to Ukraine to kill people. I never thought forcing EV’s are practical as a senior citizen I am having trouble paying for the used car I had to buy that was $10,000 there is no way I can afford a new car of any kind. I can’t afford to move to a rental because the rent is to high and I can’t fix the house I am in because repairs are to expensive I am screwed and Biden has just made life miserable for me I can only eat one meal a day because groceries are to expensive and can’t afford to to go to the doctor now since I can’t afford the copays sleepy Joe needs to go!

They neglect to mention the fact that EVs range is cut in half in the cold winters up north!see, gasoline engines have a CRANKSHAFT and a RADIATOR that does things like power the AC compressor and produce heat for the the heater.you know how an EV does it? battery.everything is working off of and draining the battery.do you know how much battery power a heating element or AC compressor takes?A LOT! so you have this car with a big, pollution filled, complete mess to obtain, LITHIUM battery and it's trying to power the motors on the wheels,the radio and computers and infotainment crap, the heater, the blower motor, the AC,at the same time as the heater on defrost, power steering pump and everything else and it just cant keep up.gasoline has a crankshaft spinning the power steering, the AC, the alternator to run anything that needs voltage, creating heat for the heater, there's no comparison! wanna go up a hill? that's going to run your battery down.want AC? that's going to run your battery down.did I mention the range is about half in really cold weather?

The fact of the matter is that when 2032 rolls around 99% of you that are in the market for a new car will buy an EV. They will be cheaper, more reliable, and have 4 times the range of gas powered cars, and you won't have to go to the gas station to fill up. You will buy an EV for the same reason you bought a smartphone - it will improve your lifestyle. The only question is whether the US will drag its feet in development and production. We can be a leader in technology and manufacturing, or we can deal with cars the same way we dealt with televisions. If you wanted to buy a TV "Made In USA" you can't. The best you can do is find one assembled in the US, but most of the components come from outside the US. I know... you're saying, "But Tesla..." to which I reply, "But Quasar, but Zenith, but RCA, but RadioShack, ..." America is pretty damned good at inventing stuff and pretty good at consuming stuff... but all that rigmarole that goes on in between (where the money is made)... not so good.
