I could never understand the accusation of having crucifixes in Catholic Churches. Not a single Catholic looks on it like the Pharisees and high priests and says “he couldn’t save himself”. What we do see is the ultimate sign and act of love. To lay down his life for us.

This is so good!! I’ve heard all these and then some. One lady told me that her sister said to her, “The Catholic Church buys its way into heaven with indulgences”…. I laughed and was like “These are the same people that will send $50 to the preacher on the television that tells them if they’ll just send in money right now, as a sign of their faith, they’ll be healed in Jesus name”.. Many people just repeat things they’ve heard from others about our faith without actually doing the research themselves-- and after doing the research many convert to Catholicism!!!

The Jews placed their sins on a sin offering (lamb or goat etc) and then the Priest sacrificed the sin offering. To complete it, the sinner had to eat the flesh of the sin offering. A bit like the Passover Lamb. Jesus was the Lamb of God, the Passover Lamb of the New Covenant to be eaten for the journey through the wilderness to the Promised Land.

Seeing Jesus dying on the cross is a very clear sign of Jesus' love for us. He loved us so much he was willing to DIE for us. It makes me think to myself "Do I love God and my fellow man enough to die for them?" Why don't other churches preach the way that Paul did? For Christians a crucifix should not be considered merely as a statue of Jesus hanging on a cross, but as a reminder of the high cost of our salvation as well as His words to us: "If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me." Paul was speaking to Christian jews who were still practicing the Mosianic ritual laws. That is why he said we are saved by grace. The jews were getting upset that the gentiles were not practicing the same. Paul was basically telling they were not saved by rituals.

If that’s the case St. Dismas would have had the baptism of John the Baptist- not the post resurrection baptism which was both water and spirit. Technically speaking, those who got baptized pre-resurrection needed to get re-baptized with the new formula. Though, there are the exceptions of “desire and blood.” EO have a three divorce rule so they don’t get everything correct.
