It's all very well stating your opinion about the value of free parking - but you don't get to dismiss the claim that the car parking is subsidised to the tune of nearly £200,000 without actually checking your facts. I'm not sure the excuse that 'I'll have to hire more staff to cater to an increase in customers that won't cover the cost of more staff' is a very convincing argument. It seems to be working from an assumption about expected future customers that is at best, guesswork. I'm not saying there is no reason to object to the pedestrianisation of that street, but from what I've seen here, it kinda seems like nimbyism and reactionary attitudes more than any real cause (budgetary concerns aside). More than anything, what comes across here is your wholly subjective attitude towards any initiative intended to confront climate change. I would hope you are not one of those people who deny there are problems we need to face, simply because you don't like the idea of having to change your habits.

What a surprise, the people in charge not taking and notice of the public they actually work for. These people need removing from and job that gives them this notion they are above the public and will do what they want instead. Will be looking into a local petition to get them removed from councils.

People elected or appointed into positions of authority are suffering severely from the delusions of power and grandeur!!!

where i live , we currently are in the middle of fighting a quarry and landfill application. The people who own the quarry was a tory councilor and the owner of the wagons was a labour councilor, we have got rid of the pair. now they are trying to get there mates in county council to approve it, they are the next to get voted out , and they have been told so. get rid of your dead wood councilors who do not represent you the people

Let's organise a quality course to teach proficiecy in hot-air, waffle and word salad. Please keep up the good work. Can anyone figure out the primary loyalties of those who aren't listening?

I think they don’t know what they’re talking about. They are almost certainly referring to footfall monitoring which looks at mobile phones in the vicinity. No connection with GPS.

I always reminded my local authority staff that they were there to facilitate the legitimate activities of local people, not to frustrate them. Too many local authorities have forgotten( or never understood ) that simple principal.

I drove through Sudbury last year. Amazing place - it still has a good variety of small shops. How has it survived? It's like going back in time. Ah - they're going to have a war on the motorist. Yep, that should kill it off.

My late uncle and aunt were councillors, hard faced b******s who could do no wrong and really didn’t like it if their ideas were questioned. My late dad, brother of my uncle, used to go to meetings and used to say the council was a bunch of money wasting shysters…

Great work, keeping these "politicians" honest and sensible needs to be done all over the country, and then people might take more care in who they vote for in future.

There should be a Council Watch here in South Cambridgeshire, where, recently we all heard that the council has decided to work ONLY for 4 days a week,.....BUT,..........WILL BE PAID FOR 5 DAYS........Remember, most if not ALL these lazy individuals continue to work form home, so who IS watching these people when they decide to take a few days off to go to the pub in their lycra on their new bikes????
@carinnacooper95337 ай бұрын
💯James, every council needs watchers... any likeminded folk in your area to work with to make that happen? Speeches and all resources available in the dropbox 😘
