Ahem, no mention of the Home Fleet of the Royal Navy? They actually used to protect our waters in those days (rather than everybody else's, today.) The kreigsmarine destroyer force was also annihilated at Narvik so wouldn't have been able to sustain a defence.

What with the accuracy of the AA guns on boats? 😂 They are commically inaccurate. Looks like barrels directed in different positions

The Royal Navy was the Real Threat militarily speaking that kept Germany from crossing the Channel. If the Luftwaffe would of focused on targeting the Royal Navy, do what the Japanese did at Pearl or what the British did to the Italians at Taranto, than added say some small combat Raiding Commando force either by secret landings at sea or better yet Airborne like a Battalion or 2 on their Naval bases in Great Britain, Fuel Depots ,Ammunition Storage Warehouse etc.
@alganhar13 ай бұрын
Sounds great, until you come to understand one very major issue with this statement. The Luftwaffe had very few Bomber crews who were actually trained to attack Naval targets. While they did address this to some extent, it did not happen until well after Sealion was cancelled. The result of this is pretty clear at Dunkirk. Considering the handicaps of the ships at Dunkirk had it been IJN pilots (who were VERY highly trained in attacking Naval targets) striking the British shipping there, it would have been a bloodbath. But the Luftwaffe, while it did sink ships, sank comparatively few. And those were ships that were almost stationary and had no sea room in which to evade air attack, the only way they could have been easier targets is if they were anchored at dock. Luftwaffe accuracy was terrible against those ships. So what makes you think the Luftwaffe could have successfully crippled the Royal Navy, especially if the RN ships were at sea and were able to evade? Early war Luftwaffe Naval Bombing was garbage. Plain and simple. It took them over a year to train enough crews to form their specialist Naval Attack formation. And that served mostly in the Mediterranean. Oh and don't say 'Port Attacks'. The reason Pearl and Taranto were so successful were because they were a complete surprise. With the British integrated air defence system there is no way the Luftwaffe is going to pull a Pearl Harbour on the Royal Navy. There is just no way they could get the element of surprise, and given where the bulk of the fleet was (Scapa Flow), those would have been unescorted Bombers, met by British Fighters... It would have been a slaughter, which is precisely why the Luftwaffe NEVER TRIED IT....

@@Richard-s2n7c 1). Where would the Luftwaffe raid? Unlike the US Pacific Fleet, the RN's anti-invasion forces were spread out over a number of ports, in particular Plymouth, Portsmouth, , Harwich, & Spithead, but with some of the bigger Southampton class cruisers in Hull. The main battle fleet was at Rosyth.well out of the reach of German fighter escorts, and unlike the neutral United States, the British in the latter half of 1940 were expecting to be attacked, and were prepared for it. Aside from the extreme improbability of Japan providing Germany with Kates, and the fact that British air defences were well prepared, the Germans in 1940 did not have an effective aerial torpedo. In fact, they never began operating an effective torpedo bomber until mid 1942. By the way, in the real events of WW2, the Luftwaffe managed to sink 31 RN destroyers, and no RN warship at all larger than a light cruiser. As to 'S' boats. In September, 1940, the Kriegsmarine had precisely 13 in service. As to landing paratroopers, by September 1940 the Germans, after losses during Spring & Summer, had only around 4,500 left. Moreover, the Luftwaffe inventory for September shows only 223 transport aircraft still operational. Moreover, the British air defence system would give ample warning of their imminent arrival. Your last comment, I assume : 'Germans picked also who have lived or vacationed in Britain before the war, also Coordination with IRA members in Ireland for info and help with Coordination of Raid,possible use of captured British Uniforms for the Raid, plenty to be had in Germany.' must simply be for comic effect. The British coastal defences were far more terrifying than the game is not capable of showing. Giant Fougasse traps, capable of immolating whole companies of infantry, tanks and vehicles. Networks of underwater pipes that allowed vast areas of the sea to be covered in burning oil. Beaches covered in landmines and barbed wire. The Germans would have incurred unacceptable levels of casualties just attempting to secure a beach head.
