Thanks for the video. I am getting ready to replace my seat covers with new ones and install seat heaters. One thing I read was you should either disconnect the batteries negative terminal or do not put you key in the ignition prior to disconnecting the seats power connector because it will throw the airbag light which requires a dealer reset. If you disconnect the battery you will be okay.

Hi Will, first of all: thanks for sharing the KZbin video. I own a 1999 911/996 C4 Convertible, and would like to use your approach to retrofit seat heating in my car (i've gotten addicted to seat heating in practically all our 'regular daily useage cars', so this will be the spring/summer project for my favorite pet project, my much beloved Porsche 911). Now the only thing I'd like to change (compared to what you did already) is to also retrofit the OEM Porsche batwing connector panel with both connectors, and then wire/connect those to the connector. The only thing that I will then sacrifice (the Porsche OEM switches only have ON/OFF) is the 'half-power' setting that the Heated Seat Kit's connector supports, as far I can judge that is. That will keep my P. looking as OEM as possible, while adding the comfort of heated seats at the same time. Based upon your experience with the Boxster, do you reckon my (slightly different) approach will work ? BR / thanks, Maarten (the Netherlands) P.S. I have successfully retrofitted a double-DIN unit (21st century Navigation, DAB+ etc.) and have also replaced all 6 speakers with much better sounding JBL GTO-speakers. In other words: I'm not afraid of technically challenging projects like these :-)). P.S. 2 : I'd be happy to share my experiences once I've completed the project.

Maarten Roset Yeah, I don’t think it would be that much of a stretch. That’s my next plan anyway!

@@Stuttards thanks Will, due to a million reasons, I haven't done any work on this project, although I have all the materials in stock for a number of months already. Will share my experiences though including some pics once I get to it... BR Maarten

@@Stuttards Quick update: Finally put in the required efforts to get this project underway. Heat pads have been successfully placed and integrated inside my 911's seats. BTW my seat construction was a bit different than yours in the Boxster, especially the lower part. A bit of a PITA as we knew already, but with sufficient TLC it can be done, and looks original afterwards. Couldn't successfully use hog rings (perhaps just me...), so I used tie-wraps for reattaching the seat reenforcements instead. That worked out beautifully as well. Now I'm working on the electronics. I want to keep everything original, so purchased a "bat wing" containing the two buttons for OEM seat heating. Will use/program an Arduino Uno and some 5V relays to enable to use these to select both the half as well as the full heating setting of the pads (the OEM variant only has on and off). The LED-indicator will indicate which setting is active my blinking 2 times (full setting) or just 1 time (half setting) and then remaining on. I'll share more details later, since the electronics part is still Work in Progress and just off the design table, with some soldering and programming to complete still.

Hi Will. I have a 986 Boxster S without heated seats. I would be interested in a quote to retrofit my car if you are able to do so. Not sure where you are situated. I live near Alloa, Clackmannanshire, Scotland.

Hi. How did you connect them to fuse box?

I connected the red (live) wire from the kit to the red wire in the connector under the seat, and then the black to the earth point on the car body under the seat also
