Stuttgart Germany: Military Stairwell Housing in Patch Barracks!

I lived here in the Craig area in 90-92! i remember those storage areas. Our apartments were smaller, the living/kitchen area was similar, but down the hall was just one bathroom and 3 similar sized bedrooms. No laundry! So cool to see the renovations. I miss it terribly.

We lived on Texas Strasse 1972-1976 (5th-8th grade for me). A lot has changed! What about the "maid's rooms" on the top floor? (I think they were used as such right after WWI when the dollar was super strong and families could afford such a luxury.) Is there still one assigned to each apt? That's where many families allowed their teenaged kids to live or it was a spare guest room/extra storage. Seems like they knocked out the dividing walls in the basement for storage and replaced with the "caged-looking" rooms. We had to do laundry in the basement. (No laundry rooms). The apt you featured looks to be where we lived but on the first floor. Ours was a 4-bedroom/ 1.5 bath. Do kids still sled out the back gate to the reservoir? We'd ice skate on it in the winter when it froze over!

I wish it were that easy! I need to go through public affairs, send a formal request, wait for approval, blah blah blah. However I do plan on doing a big “military housing video initiative” soon, so maybe it’ll happen before you arrive. Your best bet now is to ask for pics/vids from a current resident via Stuttgart Fb groups 😬

We’re dual military with no kids (unaccompanied I’m guessing?) Are we required and or allowed on base housing? Do we need an ETP? What size would we rate as O5s?

Parking spaces are open and in front of the building. Unfortunately no elevators in the stairwell apartments 😕

I used to work at an Hardware store (OBI) in the near of these installations and over a span of 5 years. As sorry if been the American soldiers coming in are one of the rudest customers I’ve ever encountered… And my colleagues mentioned the same thing to me after a while…
