The belarussian beast was a nice singles player if better in doubles. He beat sampras 2 out of 3 times and also gave young federer problems His run at this event saw a bit of luck as he saved multiple match points against crowd faves like guga and goran. In the end his luck ran into a wall against the stylish home favourite, tommy haas. .. As for sampras here he played ok but had crucial lapses. Mirnyi was very ruthless

Yeah, 2000 - 2002 Sampras was practically a shadow of his former self, with glimpses of glory only here and there. I haven't seen that much of Mirnyi but his playstyle looks to be very one-dimensional and I found it interesting how it's even reflected in his serve here; extremely powerful and if he gets that first serve in it's hard to return, but by contrast Sampras was acing him with serves that were about 30 kmh slower, just on good disguise and placement alone.

Pete at his best he have him 2-0just he didn't play well ,his biggest mistake was that he didn't change his racket from 98 he could use newest bigger and luxilon like Andre..very pity
