We made fantastic comedies in the 1970s. Sid James was and still is a great comedy legend. He is still sadly missed. I was only 5 when he died in 1976. Bless this house still makes me laugh in 2021 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I was six when sid James died. Best time in history for British TV, especially with sid James.

Great video. I am Aussie but this show was played a lot when I was a kid in the 70s/80s and I refused to believe my Mum when she said it was the same man from Hancock's Half Hour and the Carry On Movies !! Sid was great in every role. Legend.

I really enjoyed this, thank you. I agree watching BTH makes me feel warm and anything with Sid in makes me happy too. It’s been a real safe haven, particularly these past 18 months. Thank goodness we have these jewels of retreat when we need them.

I am old enough and lucky enough to have seen the series when it was first shown. Other posters have mentioned it gives them a warm cosy feeling to watch it, and I know exactly what they mean. Telly was so much better back then. Even though there were just 3 channels in the 70s, there was so much more I wanted to watch. Nowadays there are scores of channels and very little of it interests me. Bless this House takes me back to a time when life was simpler and comedies were made to entertain and make people laugh, not bombard them with social and/or political messages. It's no wonder that viewing figures are on a downward path.

Two if you include Robin Asquith, who played Mike in the film version and also one episode. Also,Carry On star Carol Hawkins who played Kate Baines in the film is still around as are a few of the supporting actors in some of the episodes.

I bought the DVD set for my daughter for Christmas, she is - and has been since she was a toddler - an avid Sid James fan and this has been one of her favourites for nearly 3 decades now. Thank you for the video, it was much appreciated and there will never be anyone who can replace the fantastic Sid James.
