Style over function? Maeving RM1 electric bike review

My mistake - my addled brain decided to say this bike is made in China. It's not, it's made in Coventry, UK. Coventry's great wall cannot be seen with the naked eye from space.

I was about to be all derisory about this but then remembered that my FS1-E had pretty much the same performance back in the day, and (at the time) I loved it. Its all about the momentum and not ever touching the brakes. Hours of fun!

I have owned lots of big petrol bikes from Triumph, KTM, Kawasaki etc and ridden on track, Moto x and trials including sidecars and absolutely love my RM1 … it’s lightweight and nimble. Keep it nailed and try not to use your brakes too much and it’s super fun on back lanes…. Simple things in life often are much more rewarding that stupid amounts of horsepower ❤

The bike is made in Coventry. I believe (if I remember correctly) the bike is made up of around 65% British parts, though don’t quote on that.

Let's be honest this bike is not going to give the performance of the MT10, but range........ ha ha it's getting towards it. British company so I like it more and if I lived in a city and had a man-bun this would appeal

Get a 125. Same price, 75mph, 130mpg and you can ride it like a proper bike. When they're much cheaper it'll make sense. I wonder if insurance for electric bikes is like for cars where some insurers flat out refuse?

I've ridden points on my life so 60 years. There's no way you would get me on one of those things and do 40 mph an hour and not be able to get back. Have a good day mate. There's nothing like that sound of a real motorbike

It's remarkable value when you compare to many ebikes which cost twice the price, but make you peddle and top out at 15mph. For commuting in town it would be perfect. Be great if you could get it on the cycle-to-work scheme

The problem with ev-bikes: We need better batteries. Even the best bikes with the longest range from Zero, is just half of what U get from any ICE-bike. Hoping for Hondas solid state batteries, but the lithium solutions on the market right now, makes me hold on to my ICE. The range is just not there and the pricing is silly.

At a grand a piece, any decent thief with a crowbar could have those batteries away in a couple of seconds. Otherwise, nice bike for commuting into local city, Just the place where the scrote with the crowbar is lurking... And he'll have the copper charging cables away aswell, good scrap value 🤣

It is a beautiful bike as electric bikes go but in reality you'd need the two battery version and at around £7k that is absolutely nuts. Ps Mutt 125cc motorcycles imo are more beautiful.

I have been a motorcyclist and car driver all my life so I have been driving now for 60 years And yes we all given a cut off time now. Where are we coming up by an electric vehicle that being car or motorcycle?. I can say one thing about motorcycles that rely on electricity is not for me, I like the sound of a Triumph Bonneville t120 I also have a Royal Enfield 350, both of which have a classic look dating back to the 50s. I'm sad to say that the future for motorcyclists looks a bit bleak plus with the motorcycle that is on display on this video it ranges 40 mph and with a maximum range of 40 miles that would not get me from North Devon to South Devon and if I could charge up it would take me for hours. Can you see a passion developing? Electric cars and electric motorcycles have got a long way to go yet before there's any confidence in making the transition from petrol or diesel to electricity. Computer says no.

I like EV bikes, but what I saw until now is dangerously close to a scam/fraud (unless you have 25,000 € for an Energica motorcycle). This RM1 in particular is more similar to a bycycle than to a real motorcycle. But you know, there are hippster out of here that would buy everything is electric just because is "trendy"... crazy... (I would buy a decent electric scooter for the city, instead.)

My Super Soco TC has a 30 mile range which is perfect for my daily commute. 40p per day vs £5 per day in my car, plus it’s fun and queues don’t exist. I use it whenever I can. Half the price of the Maeving, too.
