I love it when I see wigs being done up in period themed styles. I am looking forward to seeing more in the future. As I was watching I can relate to the hiding of the natural hair. I have same problem when it comes to wigs and my natural hair. As much as I would love to style like this sometimes I have to fuss with it to hide all the natural hairline. but I heard something called the baby hair method. where you take a thin layer of the bottom wefts of the back of the wig and trim it slightly to look like baby hair which helps hide the natural hair in the nape area that the wig doesn't cover.
@LadyRebeccaFashions
@LadyRebeccaFashions 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! And do you mean removing wefts from elsewhere in the wig, and moving them down to the back of the hairline? Otherwise, if you're just trimming down the existing back line of the wig, you're actually going to have a harder time hiding your own hair (assuming of course that your hair is a very different color than the wig).

@@LadyRebeccaFashions adding an extra weft that either matches the hair as close as possible or carefully unstitching a weft from an area of the wig that won't be seen. One method I've done was removing the nape from another wig and sewing it to the present wig I'm using. I can't remember who taught me the method but they called it the frankenwig, because you using one wig to alter another. Very Frankenstein ish lol.

@@centurycountess4949 that's really interesting. I might have to try that for the future.

@@LadyRebeccaFashions always good to practice on old wigs first and the best part about it, they may be a sew line where the join is but if you wear the hair up the wefts of the new extension hides it, just a easy as wearing it down. I'm going to trying a new method soon. I just discovered a 360 closure I'll be experiment ing with it for a frankenwig project for updu and ponytail styling I'll let you know how that goes.

You can use a length of twill tape under the pins to prevent tearing your lace.
@LadyRebeccaFashions
@LadyRebeccaFashions 4 жыл бұрын
I always forget about the twill tape trick for my personal use wigs. I tend to pin into the lace that I'm going to cut off when I'm styling, and then I pin into the hair. We've always used the twill tape when I've styled wigs for theatre though.

Love this. I spray paint my bobby pins to match the hair colour, just in case, as I can never manage to hide them all (I may use too many, lol)!

Is there a reason why you didn’t leave the loop to the last? It might just be the way I think but if you did the front minus the main focus strip, do the back and come back for the main piece, you would have more control of where to put it where the other strands wouldn’t shift or weigh it down and it can be neatly finished in a curl within or simply on top and would not compromise the overall shape. Curious 🤔 I’m so looking forward to the Elsa vids! 💖😱💖

To be honest, I never would have even thought about doing it that way. I always style the fronts of my hair (or wigs) first, to make it look how I want and to get it out of the way. I might have to try that in the future.

If you soak your wig overnight in fabric conditioner it removes the synthetic shine making the hair look more natural

I think about 1 day hair colour sprey ( this products used to colour roots) as solution for better blending with wig colour. Someone try do this ?

Are you able to make a hair pin out of a bobbi pin? I know there are straight hair pins, so I'm not sure how much having one straight side and one wiggly side would affect function
@LadyRebeccaFashions
@LadyRebeccaFashions 4 жыл бұрын
It's an interesting idea, but I don't really think that would work -- hair pins are a much more flexible metal than bobby pins typically.
