not sure if you know this, but just a heads up that doc martins with red laces are a style often worn by neo-n*zis, they use it to identify one another :( it's such a cute look, unfortunately it's been ruined by them!

yeah it's good to know so that I can underscore that this is NOT what I'm signalling with these at all! In case anyone else thinks so when they first see the video, I'll pin this comment. From a little research now it seems to be context-specific to the lacing technique as well as your geography and community, and I've never heard of the lace code before now. I was inspired by a pair of red laced camper boots and wanted to recreate it without buying a whole new pair of shoes.. fashion is so full of different combinations of meaning and signals, and I hope + believe that everyone seeing this understands my context of using this simply as a nice little touch of colour during darker winter months. I'll leave the video up and still wear the boots this way, but now I know in case it ever comes up, so thanks for the heads up

I did think this too (red laces) when I saw the thumbnail and thought Oh no! Sadly this phenomenon was known here in Toronto in the 90s. I have to applaud you @susansontags for mentioning it in such a thoughtful and gentle way, and you Ida for being thoughtful and respectful in your response and pinning it.

Dear Ida, thank you very much for your channel! I always relax my soul and get inspired when I watch your videos. All your outfits are very cool, but I especially liked the outfit with a yellow (green, may be?) bag, and look in light colors with a pink coat (although there were concerns that you might freeze, the clothes in this look look quite light).
