Well from the stylists point... It must be frightening for her too. She probably didn't knew how to handle that situation and what she did was wrong. BUT mistakes happen, so I first would talk to her or her boss in person because the salon might be quite happy for a second chance. If they would mess up everyone's hair like this, they wouldn't make money.

Little Loner she burned her hair off and she got chemical burns on scalp because of that stylists dumb mistake. There's no excuse for what she did, that "professional stylist" doesnt even know basic steps on bleaching hair.

Hunny I'm gong to post this to you as a hair stylist of 24 years, I need you to know that this was not in any way shape or form an "accident" your original hair colour (first bleach) was an adequate colour to just have a toner applied, not only did she apply a second round of bleach but she applied heat also, then left it on so long that you sustained chemical burns, had one of my staff done this they would be fired on the spot, I'm sure you wouldn't want to cause any trouble at the salon as you say you are a mild mannered person but may I say as a former salon owner by not speaking up and making a formal complaint you run the risk of letting some other poor person go through the exact same trauma and it also puts the salon owners business at risk, a bunch of lawsuits and bad reputation can shut down a business and lots of jobs are lost, the fact she wouldn't quite acknowledge the extent of damage caused is in itself worrying. You did not deserve any of what happened to you and I'm so sad for you but also furious about her lack of professionalism please speak to the salon owner even if you don't want to sue. Best of luck x

I am mortified at this representation of our profession. This woman needs her license revoked RIGHT now. It’s horrifying that she has continued to service clients. What in the hell could she have possibly been thinking to think any of that was ok? And then to see those pictures and try to pass it off as being ok? Honey, even Olaplex isn’t going to reattach hair that’s fallen in the floor! If nothing else I would report her to the State Board because she does not need to be servicing clients.

OH MY GOODNESS!!! Listen--I'm a licensed Cosmetologist in the state of CA and that's the worst chemical burn I have ever seen. You should know that it's not that uncommon for this to happen in CA with Stylists who are trying to rush. The only time heat should be used is if the hair is NOT lifting, and even then it needs to be watched closely and carefully. Anytime a client is complaining of pain the chemicals should be removed immediately if the hair is done processing or not. Most of all, this is grounds to lose your license, and I cannot stress this enough--PLEASE report her to the CA Board of Barbering and Cosmetology because if she did it to you and blew it off as if it was normal, you were fine, and a little coconut oil would fix your hair, then I guarantee she's done this before and will do it again--the next person could endure permanent balding from the scars, or go into anaphylactic shock from an allergic reaction--she could literally kill someone and definitely will ruin a few lives. This is SERIOUS. If a Cosmetologist or Nail Tech nips a clients cuticle into the eponychium and makes the client bleed, that Nail Tech will also lose their license if it is properly reported. This happened to one of my daughter's friends and he refused to report the ill-equipped stylist, so she has since injured other clients. If this were a doctor and you went in to have a mole on your hand removed but she removed your pinky finger instead, you'd report her for malpractice, yes? We have to have a license for a reason--people's health and safety are in our hands. Don't let her hurt anyone else, if you can help it. Don't feel bad for reporting her, either--she may be forced to take another class and then retake her board exams, and it sounds like she needs it! This is a rookie mistake, and I've only seen it happen in school where people expect to see hair burned off, but I've never seen a chemical burn on the skin that bad! I'm angry for you, and disgusted anyone with a CA license would not only do that, but fail to accept responsibility. She mistook your kindness for stupidity and took advantage of that, and for that, I am deeply sorry. We are not supposed to treat our clients like this--you trusted her, and she really did you wrong. When dealing with a licensed profession, one must check that professionals resume for specialization areas because the field is very broad and not everyone has the same skills that their license covers. Some nail techs only do gel, others only do acrylic, and that's because that's what they know. Some stylists never do color, some only do color and can't cut.... I specialize in bleach/lightener and fashion colors, but I am admittedly a mediocrity at many oxidative color skills (I plan to get more education) and my hair cutting skills have room for improvement. That, and I'm the only one in my area who can do a perm and I am the best for anyone looking for a perm! But if you want a perm or platinum hair or a balyage, you need to find someone who can prove they are good at this, not someone who says they can do it and offers a good price. This is in no way a criticism of YOU--you were the victim here! This is just a common problem I see in the industry, and I genuinely wish more people would report the bad ones who will do anything for a buck because they make us all look bad. If I were in her salon I may have gone over and gently asked if she needed help on the DL rather than see her injure you or any other client. If someone came to me asking for a chemical relaxer, I would have to tell that client "I have never done one and only know the theory from school. You may want to find someone with more experience because those chemicals are very dangerous if you don't know what you're doing. If it were a really complex color formulation, I would ask other professionals with more experience than me for help, and I'm in a massive licensed-only private internet group specifically for this sort of peer-to-peer help where we do ask others or answer questions asked, and we do this because it's more important to give the client the best service than it is to get that client's money, especially when you don't know wtf you're doing. God, I am so so sorry--that burn looked really angry and painful! I hope it didn't leave any scars, physical or psychological. Your hair is naturally a level 8-9 so I can't imagine you'd even need more than 15 mins of bleach let alone a second lightener session or heat! I have a repeat client this weekend whose hair is a natural level 2 BLACK and her hair lifts to a platinum 10 in under 20 minutes with a a 7 volume developer, a plastic cap, and Olaplex. I can't believe how many stylists are out there injuring people--it blows my mind. :( PS: Sorry for the novel--this is a bit of a soapbox issue for me.

It took me a long time to find a stylist I trusted because of what you said. I will NEVER let anyone but my stylist touch my hair until he retires. I had a salon put bleach on my hair for well over an hour between TWO applications in a row to turn it from red to blonde. After the first one it turned pink and they commented that my hair looked great and it was strong so they could do another round. I had what felt like a soft brillo pad on my head for a very long time. Between that and my bad haircut my hair should be to my butt and instead it's now just brushing my shoulders. Never again.

I hate to say this but she did this on purpose. There’s NO WAY she didn’t know what she did. We are trained from day one never to put bleach on bleach. And 90% of modern lighteners say NO HEAT especially on scalp application!!! All you needed was was some purple shampoo. Blue toner. Etc. you had full blown chemical burns. There’s just no way at ALL that she didn’t know exactly what she did.
@nathanjs42075 жыл бұрын
Meliie Mel I agree... I almost think she might've been irritated from the post-service check-up where she said she still felt it was yellow and just aggressively was ready to make sure she never had to see her again. As a stylist, clients crying that they still see yellow is one of the biggest pet peeves and can be so frustrating. I don't know why she didn't just use a strong toner or something with a low level of lift to get the yellow out without damaging it so much. Purple shampoos and toning masks can really do wonders so it's confusing as to why that wasn't just done instead of the bleach.
@ratchow15 жыл бұрын
as a hair stylist myself, the only time I've ever heard of anything like this is where the client went home and tried getting the yellow out with bleach and fried their own hair. toning takes 5 min and your done. what stylist is that petty or stupid to takes the extreme longer more damaging route? I'm having a hard time believing her.

If you say something, you might make yourself look stupid, or really offend somebody. I know, it seems dumb to worry about little things like that, but, anxiety makes every decision or confrontation seem like the wrong thing to do. So you just sit their in a panic not knowing what to do, and not saying anything. I feel so bad for the girl. I feel like the stylist treated her the way she did because she knew she could get away with it, because she was so soft spoken and sweet. I'm sure the stylist was freaking out too when she saw the result, and just pretended everything was fine to cover her own ass. And those of us who get anxiety and can't confront people, tend to get taken advantage of often.

If a nurse gave you the wrong medicine and it caused your bodily harm, you wouldn’t just say it was an accident. You’d call it malpractice because nurses learn procedures when they go to RN school. Same thing- she should have leaned that you don’t double bleach hair under a heat source, especially when all you needed what a toner (which she could have just put some Wella T14 from Sally’s and called it a day). On the text messages she probably denied the burns because if she’d admitted it and you decided to sue you would have proof of her admitting fault and you’d win the case. You can sue for chemical burns to get your money back. If you have the documents from the doctor then you'd have no issue. Making your hair fall off and and actually burning your scalp are two different things, that's malpractice. If you can talk trash on yt and feel sad about it you didn't move on, if somebody makes a mistake that bad they refund you and apologize profusely.

TO BE HONEST : if say, this had been a GENUINE accident, that hairdresser would have 100% taken your first initial word about the burning sensation, she would have immediately dealt with it and in the best respect, payed you back for the treatment and hospital bills - if she genuinely cared. This doesn’t seem like an accident to me, sorry. It just doesn’t. She’s supposed to be professional, I mean god damn those photos you sent her should have sent alarm bells ringing, it’s clear to anybody and especially Hollywood hair stylists, that that hair ISN’T okay. The fact she continued to reassure you etc just seems sketchy to me, real sketchy. In all completely honestly you are beautiful and this is the first video I’ve seen of yours. You deserve every little penny back for that and more. I’m usually a silent viewer and rarely comment on videos, but this I just had to say. You seem so genuine. I hope you find some sort of closure/justice.

Jessica Freeman why would the hairdresser purposely do that?
@Nunnia2226 жыл бұрын
Jessica Freeman I agree. Even the most simple of people who have no professionalism at all in the field KNOW, any hair treatment that burns is not okay. The boxes of dye from the store even says, if you feel a burning sensation, get that mess off your head. Even the ones without ammonia say this. Certainly a professional would know. She needs to be sued so she don't continue doing this sort of thing to others. I think it was intentional also. She told her it was burning but even before then she should have known not to bleach it right away.

Sorry hun but I don't think it was an accident. Professional hairstylists know not to bleach hair so soon after the first bleaching. Also when you said it was burning you reputable stylists would listen to your concerns and remove the heat. Thirdly when she washed it she would have seen the change in texture and know it was ruined. Why didn't you get it dried there? She knew what she had done, that's why! The fact she texted to check with you about your hair four days after the appointment is strange in itself. It might sound nice of her but it's not standard practise, unless you were a close friend. Usually if there was a problem with a hair cut the client approaches the stylist and returns to the salon. I know you won't want to hear this but I think she was jealous of your long blonde hair, took advantage of your anxiety and shyness and set out to damage it. However it looks really cute and pretty curly like that and you still look great so she failed.I know you didn't want shorter hair but the stylists who helped you fix it did a great 👍 job. x

A stylist knows his/her product line but he/she cannot know all the products in the world or with what medication they react. The client should check that with the doctor. And they also make you sign because people lie or hide if they are under medication because they want the color done desperately so in that case the salon doesn't want to be responsible.

@evanislost6 жыл бұрын
Ely I know people get accused of being quick to sue over insignificant things, but this is one of those situations where she should have definitely sued. She could prevent this from happening to someone else, and I'd also be worried about scalp health later down the road. If anything, at least there would be a record of this situation incase the hair dresser damages someone elses hair. And if that person wants to sue, having this on record will help their case.
@katrina21956 жыл бұрын
evanislost I agree 100 percent. She took a lot of damage all because a licensed person did the wrong thing. And it’s not like she went in and got a bad hair cut or the wrong color dye. She Legitimately caused her harm to her skin and her scalp. It would be good to have it on the hair dressers so to say file. So when ever someone else gets harmed by the hairdresser it would possibly be easier to build a case... possibly to get her license revoked. Not to mention when she told the hairdresser they didn’t really seem to care or offer anyway to help.
@brianneholds69146 жыл бұрын
She should sue or at least report here...they carry insurance to help with these things. So that maybe her medical bills could be covered, but you have to take into account legal fees so unless you get a good lawyer who won't overcharge you it might not be worth it. But she definitely needs to report her to the licensing board so that the incident is on file. Although she is saying it will be fine in the texts, she probably learned her lesson, but it should be on file in case it happens again. they will most likely revoke her license, if it happens more than once. This is the equivalent of malpractice by a doctor. Sometimes it's an accident but it needs to be reported because a license is earned and can be revoked for unsafe use. That chemical burn could have damaged her scalp enough to prevent new follicle growth and she could have had bald patches. Clearly it did not and she is lucky but a few more minutes under the heat could have pushed it over the edge.

I am so done with these incompentent control freaks. I will speak up from now on instead of just paying and leaving! I believe many cluster b narcissists are going into the hair stylist industry today because they can cause untold misery and emotional pain for people (via their hair) and this is what cluster b's feed on (pain and misery of others) while playing ignorant of their actions.

I really hope you do not feel that all hairstylists are like that. My big sister is one and is always learning and touching up how she does things, and I am also going to school to become a hairdresser and I could never imagine insulting, or personally injuring a client especially on purpose. I do think a stylist should show how much an inch of hair would be and ask if they would like less or more cut off, and I do agree some people in the cosmetology profession are dramatic and rude but I don't feel it should be a stigma against all of us. As for checking up on her, my hairstylist did that the first time I saw her and she continues to do it now even(my sis lives in another state that's why I don't go to her) I believe a stylist should always follow up especially with new clients. As for her denying she burned her hair that is honestly despicable. I feel it was an honest mistake but I think when she realized what she had done instead of helping her and apologizing and offering to something, anything to help she refused to take blame(the hairstylist not Hailey). She was probably more scared of losing her license when all she would have to do is probably be retrained and yes she may lose her job, but I would rather help my client than play dumb. It is why continuous training and learning is important in this career. I really do hope you find a stylist who will treat you with respect, we are supposed to make you feel good, not uncomfortable. And I am really sorry you have been treated so badly.

No, that was not an accident, haven't you ever heard that old adage, "fool me once, fool me twice"?. I highly doubt it was an accident, and if it was it's an accident that would come from like dehumanizing her clients or thinking everybody's hair is superhumanly resistant, which is all around DANEROUS. Really, sue. the. bitch.

As a hairstylist this made me CRING the whole time. That is absolutely horrible and her reaction / response was absolutely TERRIBLE and unprofessional. I'm appalled at what happened to you and I hope alot of stylists watch this and learn and PLEASE understand how important hair care and learning and educating really is. Thank you for sharing

Hair is something you wear everyday and it grows out of your freaking head! SUE HER! You’re going to regret not suing her. Don’t be naive, girl...
@jessj21807 жыл бұрын
Girl, no. You NEED to sue for medical bills, pain and suffering, and the chemical cut. It's kind of your duty now, so that you prevent this from happening to others. This "stylist" needs to be exposed and held accountable. Small claims is super simple and the fees would cost you maybe $50 to file in CA for the amount you are suing for (which she can be held accountable to pay in the end). Look up to see that it's not too late. Some instances, you can't sue after 2 years or so. Where I am (CA), there is a program called SHARP that helps you for free to collect your exhibits (evidence) and fill out and print the paperwork so you can file it that day.

Omig..this worst chemical burn hair damage story I seen from a salon...you really need to take them court for all pain suffering damage to the hair loss and scalp...when you damage scalp hair loss or baldness could develop...this reason i dont go to salon just use hi lift blonde dyes on my light medium brown hair..you do look very beautiful in shorter curled hair..❤
@heathergundry70594 жыл бұрын
It happened to me three times. One cut all my hair really short, two gave me severe chemical burns. I warned them beforehand but they did it anyway. So now I won't go to hair dressers. I have found my own products and dyes and I am slowly regrowing my hair...honestly, some hairdressers must be faking their qualifications!

#1 rule we learn in school when learning color is you NEVER put lightener under a heater. That being said hairdressers do it but when you do it you NEVER walk away from them and you check it over and over. I’m so sorry this happened to you

Jayne Karinova it’s not that it’s a no no a lot of hair dressers do it and it can be perfectly fine if you are careful but this hair dresser clearly wasn’t

Ugh what a horrible experience to go threw! I’ve never had my scalp burned with bleach but I have had bleach irritate my scalp for a few days after bleaching at the salon. I’ve also had massive breakage from overlapping at the salon! I have since started doing my own research and picking products very carefully and now I bleach my root at home. I’m no professional, so I do have some yellow bands here and there but overall I feel so much better and have eliminated all the adverse reactions I had to the salon bleaching. I’m glad to see you’ve recovered well and your hair is super cute!

I am the same way with being very quiet. I got my entire head dyed green and when the girl was bleaching it, it was burning as she put the bleach on. I was thinking "oh this is probably fine" but the girl who was doing my hair kind of knew what she was doing and when she noticed my head felt hot and looked red she instantly took it off, so it didnt get too bad, but I had scabs all over my head for a good week or two. If I had told her it was uncomfortable I would have been okay from the beginning, but I was too shy.
@emilygrimm17056 жыл бұрын
She should’ve kept checking on you and doing test strands and checking your scalp. If you were even slightly uncomfortable I would’ve rinsed you out immediately. And she should’ve covered your hospital expenses that’s why they have insurance.

I'm a stylist and I just can't imagine why she did this. Like sometimes if a clients hair is a little gold for their liking - if they said they wanted more of a white blonde like you did - you might do a quick bleach bath (mixture of warm water, clarifying shampoo, bleach and weak developer) and put that on the hair for 15 minutes with NO HEAT just to bump it up a level since you can't tone hair lighter. You might chuck in some partline foils so it looks a little lighter to the client. I can not imagine why you would perform a second on-scalp bleach service on already blonde hair and add heat. Totally inexcusable and irresponsible
@luckyDancer1006 жыл бұрын
Amanda Robbins could this damage someone’s scalp?
@brenbrenmao6 жыл бұрын
luckyDancer100 if the bleach is on their scalp yeah it will burn really bad LOL i’m not a hair stylist but i thought you’re supposed to apply a bit away from the root since the bleach will spread & it usually says on bleach packets to not put it on your scalp
@missmoustachio93236 жыл бұрын
You can put bleach on scalp but not 30vol or 40vol. And depending on the brand some of them do NOT got under heat and i know sone hairdressers that still does it which is a big no no

Your hair in this video..... inspired me to really take care of my curls and this began my healthy hair journey. I had a very similar situation. I had hair to my butt and then they fried it off.... to my shoulders... I should have gotten a pixie cut but I could bare the thought. Anyhoo... You look absolutely glowing and stunning with this hair style and color. I love it it on you and took a lot of inspiration given we have some similar features. Thanks for making this video and sharing your story.
