This is an interesting, eye-opening video. After 25 years of working as a web developer I was recently shown the door and... I felt it was about time to tackle something different, so I'm now learning 3d and Blender full time. My greatest love keeps being traditional illustration and comics, however I see 3D as a more in demand, salable skill to have, and a way to keep reconnecting with my artistic roots. And the irruption of the metaverse concept just can mean more demand for custom virtual products and people willing to pay for them. There's a whole universe I'm just becoming aware of. This may well be my biggest career drift before retiring, haha, so I want to do it right. Thanks again.

I've just purchased a new pc around 2 months ago because I wanted to start gaming but had a terrible laptop. Shortly after I started gaming, I found blender just from a youtube video and thought it looked pretty cool. I thought that no one could ever make money using something free and so easy to use, but now I see that I am very wrong. I'm only 14 and blender has changed my mindset on life so much, and I think starting it was the best decision I've ever made. If you're watching this and you are wondering if it is worth the time commitment or not, here is a simple answer: Yes! Just start! You'll get frustrated but it's so worth it!

There are countless ways that a truly creative person can make a living with their art. I've been listening to other artists talk about how hard it is to make a living for nearly 30 years, luckily I never emulated that myself, and have had a pretty successful career doing what I love. I'm just glad what I'm doing wasn't on this list so that everyone doesn't swoop in and try to jump in like with everything else that comes along. I don't think it can happen though because what I do requires having a pretty solid background is several things that are very contradictory from a personality standpoint lol.

This is honestly perfect for someone who can't do traditional work bc of health issues. I have always been more interested in 3D art over 2D art. I customize dolls and make sculptures from scratch but they take a lot of time and finding someone who would buy them from me is difficult. So dipping into the digital 3D world is incredible. I started learning Blender in school way back and recently was introduced back into it. I'm currently learning how to import existing 3D models from Games and rig them for unique pictures and scenes. I would love to go further into it and learn the process of making an entire Character from scratch. It is so fun to learn all these things and grow familiar with them, I would love to be able to make money with this in say a year or two. This is like a tiny hope that I may be able to support myself and not rely on others bc of my sickness. I am not expecting much bc I'm still a pessimist at heart. But sitting at home for about 6 years now and doing nothing is extremely frustrating. I'm a very creative person and I love art, It would mean the world if I could support myself doing something i'm passionate about.

Webcomic artists always need 3D sets, acon3d or clip studio paint assets (if youre in japan) are good places where you can sell things like really simple stools, buildings, heads, shoes ect. If you can do a detailed model of a large amount of things to make a full set (like a small town, or a resort for instance) those go for 50-500$. I havent sold anything officially, but after making a literal empty bookshelf with no color or anything free and getting 2k downloads I am pretty sure youve got a shot at making a few bucks

Blender is becoming more popular among the signifcantly more casual, non-industry individuals and indie spaces because of its accessibility; these are areas autodesk doesnt care much about, which is why their products are priced the way they are. If blender ever became competition for autodesk in regards to autodesk's target audience then we'll quickly see a change with either blender or autodesk's marketing and/or pricing structure. Like i wouldnt be surprised if autodesk saw blender as a threat then decided to buy blender like it has a number of other companies that encroached on it's territory.

Such a good a video! Might I ask if you could possibly do a tutorial series starting from the user interface to knowing what each tools do and how to use them, to the bare minimum basics and so on but in short 10+ minutes. I know it might be a lot to ask, but most tutorials online are done in long 1 or 2 hour videos which honestly is kinda hard to get into, sometimes you just wanna know a certain thing but if you have to go through a whole 2 hour video to find that info...it might deter some people. Also some of your tutorials require people to know and understand what you're actually talking about.
@Pelitaiteilija3 жыл бұрын
The best fast bare-bones tutorials for specific features of Blender is on the official Blender youtube channel, the Blender Fundamentals series of videos. 3-5 minutes per feature, such as basic navigation, adding & deleting objects, material basics, rigging basics, etc. There are some longer videos there, where they cover all the basics of a certain feature (like sculpting or eevee lighting), but those are still quite fast, e.g. 25 minutes for sculpting.
