Are you - team Stylosette or team Synthasette? Or… like me, not gonna pick a side and think they both are great?! 😂✌️

Leaving the drama behind for 2025 - best to just get both.

I went with the Stylosette, no negative feelings for people who chose the wrong, more expensive version with fewer features that does not actually fit in real a tape case

Just to point out that Dubreq didnt invent the Stylophone design, that was Brian Jarvis around 68. He later sold the rights to Dubreq (who then did deals with Bowie and co to advertise them). The touch plate control itself predates even Jarvis iirc.

I also wanted to mention the green one didn't always have a back plate. Stylo just needs to remove the cassette print. And add a filter section!
@Tiger.Arcade23 күн бұрын
A filter section would be incredible. The sound is a little too raw for my ears. Needs to be ran through FX or a filter for sure.

Synth companies being accused of copying needs to stop. If there wasn't patent or copyright infringement then it's just legitimate competition.
@CookinBeatloaf18 күн бұрын
Small companies takes overall concept and adds hipster twist, Dubreq notes similarity and improves further...not overly complicated.

You can between two Stylosette synths. Not between the Synthasette and Stylosette.

that was quite an interesting video... & i must admit that i had no clue that the synth-a-sette existed until i saw it here for the 1st time! i've ordered my stylosette keys just a few days ago, because i love the whole family of stylophone music tools (& i'm desperately trying to find a gen-r-8, which i sadly couldn't buy at the time it was released)... one thing i would like to know (or find out myself, when it arrives here soon) is, if i could connect the stylosette to my korg volca modular? that would be awesome! i also have just received my stylophone theremin to make some weird sounds with... ;-) anyway... all the best for 2025! :-) looking forward to more of your videos like that! cheers! :-) *waving*

Yes you can connect it to the modular and other modular gear using the alligator clips!

@GoooNakayamaКүн бұрын
That's an interesting fact, but why is a synthesizer shaped like a cassette tape in the first place? There are several tape effect machines with a similar design, so it makes sense and it's inevitable that they would look similar. I have a question for both the green and black products: Why is it shaped like a cassette tape even though it's a synth?

The first versions of the Synth-a-sette doesn’t have the back panel, I have one from the second or third edition and I'm waiting for my stylossette to arrive. This is a battle that should be told to the grandchilds and have evidence to prove it.
@buildmicrokits24 күн бұрын
Yes, I added the back cover to the Synth-a-Sette in June of this year. This was my first synth design so it took such a long time to learn what I didn't know I didn't know. But hopefully this means it'll be easier to complete all the ideas I'm working on now. :)

I didn’t know about the Synthasette - but honestly they are just way too basic to bother with either of them, for me

they cant patten stylophones or the shape of a cassete case so i think whoever made it first is irrelivant, they missed the boat fifty years ago to pattent the shape and technology behind tyheir product and i think they know that
@DetroitMicroSound23 күн бұрын
The Stylosette has more features, and costs considerably less. A no-brainer. They outdid the competition, and that probably really got under the skin of the guy at MicroKits. Instead of getting upset about it tho, he maybe should have kept quiet, and built a MUCH BETTER Synth-A-Sette mk2.
