Dennis DeYoung's faith in his song while the rest of the band did not like it is truly amazing!! it became their biggest hit!
@davidrose8842 Жыл бұрын
Actually, Dennis wrote this song as a birthday present for his wife Suzanne and never intended to release it as a single. A&M President Bob Garcia backs up Dennis' story that when Tommy and JY heard it that THEY BOTH INSISTED that it be included on Cornerstone and be released as the first single on the album. This is all part of Tommy's and JY's FALSE NARRATIVE on how Dennis' songs caused a rift among the band. And another FACT, Tommy actually wrote the only 3 songs in the Styx catalog-Sing for the Day, Boat on a River, and Just Get Through this Night- that does NOT feature one single power chord. But again, it is all part of the FALSE NARRATIVE that Dennis only wrote ballads. Tommy and JY keep demeaning Dennis' hits while still happily cashing their royalty checks. Talk about the epitome of hypocrisy.

Styx was one of my fathers favorite bands; this was his favorite song. My parents divorced when I was little; he never remarried. Up until the day of his death January 2021 he said he would always love my mom and remember the good times. I just turned 48 on the 12th of July and I still remember being 6 years old sitting at a booth with a jukebox at Dairy Queen, asking my dad for change so we could listen to music as we ate. It never failed that he always asked for this song to be played and every time he would tell me that it would remind him of my mom and everything that she meant to him and everything he couldn't be for her. Every time, it never failed, he would say he regretted not knowing a good thing when he had it right under his nose the whole time and vowed every time, I would be an only child and that his love for my mom would go on until the day he died. Those words rang true until his passing. He wasn't father of the year, but he was my dad and I will forever love him and I'm very fortunate, blessed, to be able to speak heart to heart with him before he passed. Not many get that chance. Love you Nico. I loved you more than I ever thought I did and I miss you like crazy.

@Vivian Farmer I’ve been married for 32years I was 24 and she was 20. She got cancer in 2020 I was totally lost without her. She took a major hit the treatment was horrible for her. I could not do anything to change the situation so I felt helpless..This song reminds me of her.

My Dad passed away back in February of 2024 I wasn't able to say goodbye. I remember him dancing and singing to this song all the time in the living room when I was growing up. As a kid I didn't get it. Now in my 30's it makes me cry tears in hopes that he's performing this song live entertaining people in his own personal heaven something he always wanted to do and something he gave up to raise me and my two siblings. I wish I could go back and tell him how much he meant to me and that me and him are not that much different.

Babe, I'm leaving, I must be on my way The time is drawing near My train is going, I see it in your eyes The love, the need, your tears But I'll be lonely without you And I'll need your love to see me through So please believe me, my heart is in your hands And I'll be missing you. You know it's you Babe Whenever I get weary and I've had enough Feel like giving up You know it's you Babe Giving me the courage and the strength I need Please believe that it's true Babe, I love you. You know it's you Babe Whenever I get weary and I've had enough Feel like giving up You know it's you Babe Giving me the courage and the strength I need Please believe that it's true Babe, I love you. Babe, I'm leaving, I'll say it once again Somehow try to smile I know the feeling we're trying to forget If only for a while But I'll be lonely without you And I'll need your love to see me through Please believe me, my heart is in your hands And I'll be missing you Babe, I love you Babe, I love you Ohh Babe...
