This whole album deserves a sit down review. Oh and the studio version is way better, IMO. The whole album is theatrical and has a nostalgic feeling to it from start to finish.

Styx is/was amazing, and every bit as good live as on album, especially Dennis. Wish they were all still together.

Great to see you reacting to the live version from the Return to Paradise performance. "Come Sail Away" from this same concert is amazing as well.

Styx has been my favorite band since my early teens, from 1977 onwards. I saw three concerts and have most of their original albums. I just need two more. Dennis DeYoung has always been the "theatrical one" of the band. He was a music teacher prior to his singing career in The Tradewinds and later Styx. I loved your reaction, SalvoG. That ending...❤

The concert closed as the album did (the original vinyl also had a hidden track 33 secs. of a tribute to his grandfather and laser eching). The "Paradise Theatre" album started with intro. track "A.D. 1928" that led into "Rockin' The Paradise", so check out the opening of this same concert on the "Return To Paradise" tour of 1996.

Absolutely, one of THE finest singers I've ever heard. Sounds every bit as good live as in studio.

Dennis DeYoung has one of the best voices in pop/rock IMO. And Tommy Shaw is underrated as a guitarist. I've never heard this live version and loved it. Thanks for the reaction, Salvo! Check out "Renegade" for something harder hitting from them.

The album is the story of the ( fictional Paradise ) theater. It opens in 1928, fun heady times, before the stock market crash and Depression. The theater goes through the 30s and 40s, becoming an item of the past of a changing society, closing in 1958.

I ended up with about 6 of these during the late 90s when no one was buying vinyl anymore, and my local music store was selling all their vinyl for 25 cents each! The whole thing is a fantastic concept album about a beautiful theater in Chicago called The Paradise Theater and the rise and fall of its glory days. I still remember waiting outside all night in high school in the very early 80s to get tickets to a Styx concert, and it didn't disappoint at all. And I'd do it again if I could see the original guys back together... but the Reaper has claimed both the Panozzo brothers, and JY and Tommy won't work with Dennis again. So, like the song says, the worst of times are the breakup, but the best of times are when I can be alone with their music and still love it - and best of all is sharing it with my kids and finding songs they love too!

Nice reaction. To complete this experience, I suggest you to react to two songs together "1928/Rockin' The Paradise" that opened this concert "Return to Paradise" 1997 and the studio album "Paradise Theatre". Maybe the studio version and then the live version, whatever you do you will enjoy it. Guaranteed.

Hope you see now why I wanted this to be your final reaction when I thought you wouldnt be doing anymore. Ive waited so long for this reaction got spoiled on 2 a month :) I believe this entire concert is on you tube and Ive requested Suite Madam Blue from this concert next. Sure wish you would do convert reactions. So many great ones to choose from. Maybe do 1 concert a month instead of an album or movie reaction ? By the way the concert starts the same with the guy sweeping the floor . Its their reunion concert from 96 Return to Paradise seeing The Paradise was their biggest album Good to see your taking new requests missed them so

When they say Styx is "prog" they are pigeon-holing a hugely diverse ban into a narrow category. Styx has songs all over the rock and pop range -- from very proggy sagas to straight up arena anthems to soft-rock ballads, to orchestra-backed rock epics, to musical theater pieces with spoken word and robot voices and crap. By the time Paradise Theater came around they were circling back and giving a bit of everything, some highly technical stuff, some sing-along anthem, some ballads and poetic lyrics. Some say they tried to jam too many styles into the record, and indeed not everyone wanted to hear the whole album at a time. The incredible timing and interplay of instruments, the nearly classical arrangement of the movements hit at the heart of expert musicianship. Great choice of song, would love to hear you listen to some early stuff of theirs for comparison.

Sal... I don't know if you listen to music from European countries or not? Italy? 🇮🇹 Even if you don't do any reaction videos for them I have 2 of my favourite to suggest to you.... Eros Ramazzotti, he's been around since the early 80's. His best album (my opinion) is Stilelibero. The other is a group called The Kolors, they've been around for the last 15 years. I don't have any of their albums but my favourite songs of there's are Karma (recent hit), Los Angeles (live acoustic on their KZbin channel), Pensare Male (w/Elodie a popular Italian female singer), Come Le Onde, Blackout, Cabriolet Panorama & there most recent hit is Italodisco 🇦🇺🇮🇹💖
