Shanty (The Quests)

Here's Shanty by the Quests. It is composed by Henry Chua, the bassist of The Quests and the first of two originals (the other being Gallopin') required by the EMI at that time. Shanty became the first song by a local band to reach the top of the Singapore charts, displacing The Beatles' "I Should Have Known Better" at No. 1, where it stayed for 12 weeks.

have listened to your work Robbie for the past 2 years. I have been playing guitar for 60 years, still going. You, as do i love the shadows sound. I said to my wife yesterday "I never thought I would ever say anyone could eclipse Hanks sound, bur you have a tad better one. Also I dont comment about musicians, yours is my second. You not only have such a beautiful sound, but you are a gifted muso. I hope you know who gave you that gift.

During that era's The Quest is the one of the best Band Group from Singapore, After The Shadow from England... They almost the same as The Shadow... I still keep their black record bought by late grandpa long time ago...All the best bro.. tribute for The Quest...

Only just recently found this the opening and closing chords and melody have stayed with me I started guitar in Singapore 1960 and later these guys often played at Singapore Swimming Club and this was one of their tunes we saw all their gigs there Sundays mainly! They were on local TV too! At last I've found it again!! This time I'll learn it!!! Best wishes from Plymouth UK!!

Yes of course I would love to hear more my grandfather actually was in a band playing lead guitar and he used to play these songs gallopin I’m feeling good shanty tea break pop inn theme dum dum mustapha however the only songs you seem to have not covered is dum dum so please can you try learn dum dum by the quests I would love to hear I believe u can do it thank you
