Why sub floor fans can do more harm than good.
Rising damp is just that. Water rising from the soil through the bricks and mortar then coming to the surface of the bricks to an evaporation point.
Sub floor fans can decrease the quantity of water rising above the level of your floors so it looks like your rising damp issue is fixed. What has really happened is the fans have lowered the evaporation point of the water to below your floors and increased the rate of evaporation.
As the water comes from the soil it brings dissolved salts with it. As you heard in the video, the salts destroy your bricks and mortar turning them to dust. More evaporation means higher levels of water, containing salt, will be drawn into your walls meaning faster deterioration.
