This is such an amazing story. I’m impressed with the son’s preparations for his parents & all of the parent’s research for what they could do to better understand and accept their son. I wish this for all, but glad there’s a good example out there for those who don’t have that acceptance yet. 👏🏾👏🏾👍🏾😍👏🏾👏🏾

it really hit me when he mentioned that not all parents can handle coming out and go into denial. when pack said "i had a feeling and knew i was gay 10 years before i came out, unloading all that onto my parents in one day was hard". it really opened my mind up!! usually when i see a lot of parents of sexual minorities having negative reactions, my mind immediately paints them in a bad light. ive never really taken the time to think about what they might be thinking, or how the experience of your child coming out could be isolating you from a lot of society as well. thank you mango couple!! this was a really educational experience♡

I realise not all parents are the same, but once the 6 stages are over love should win Respect for kids and parents alike is important. Consider adults coming out later in life to their kids, we all need to trust. Awe I love it! What a great episode! I especially love what his dad said towards the end, about how he felt like "his knowledge of the world expanded 10x more in the past 4 years.". I think that statement can ring true for every person in the world. You only know what's in front of you and what you're taught. We could all use a bit more knowledge and awareness of others and differences, it would suprise you how similar we are and what cool things you would have otherwise never known.

When I came out to my parents (I was like 15-16) my dad accepted it right away but for my mum, it took her some time to understand...she thought that I was confused and it was a fase and all of that...I waited for her to understand (with the help of my dad) and she ended up crying and being sorry for telling me those things. Now I'm 18 and my little brother (14) also came out to her and she said that she already knew about him but I was a surprise for her lmao

I am so glad you did this video, I really enjoyed it. My 17-year-old grandson just came out to me about 1 month ago. I have been a subscriber of yours for over a year, I have been watching all of your videos and love you both. So this video gave me so much comfort because while I can and have fully accepted my grandson, I don't know how my son will accept my grandson coming out and telling him he is gay. My grandson told me he has known for about 5 years now. It breaks my heart that he had to struggle with this all by himself. Except for some of his friends, I am the first family member he has told. Your channel was recommended to me and Im so glad that it was. I love how informative you are about the realities of being LGBTQ or being an LGBTQ parent. When my daughter came out to me at 13, I admit I didn't handle it well in the beginning. It wasn't that I was against her being lesbian, i just felt she was too young to truly know for sure. However, I took about 2 weeks to talk to her and really listened to what she was saying. I realized after those conversations that she was adamant about her sexuality so I accepted it. She is now almost 23 and identifies as bisexual.

That is the type of support I wish I had had when I came out 41 years ago. My mother did not want my lover and I to come and visit because she had a really distorted idea of what being gay meant, and thought we would go flitting around town like a couple of queens. My father did not support me at this time because he felt that if he did my mother would think he was also gay. They had been married for decades before my father did finally come out of the closet. My mother's attitude only waned after I didn't speak to her for at least a decade. They were both so mixed up I did not attend either of their funerals, because of how they treated my lover and I. In other words my friends, don't give in to the stupidity of your parents lack of understanding. You cannot force acceptance, but you can live your life as you want and not by the stupidity of ignorant parents.

My family told me that I am always welcome to their house but my partner would never be aloud. Fortunately and unfortunately, I don't have anyone atm but you they realize how stressed that is to have your family tell you that your partner can never come? Well, once I get a partner, there will be no more going over to my family's house or for any holiday dinners. Also my condolences to your parents. I'm sorry they mistreated you and your partner.

This is an example of a parent truly caring about the true happiness of their child. It reminds me of a line in a movie, I can’t think 🤔 of the title, but a character says to a mother “If he can lie for your happiness, can’t you accept the truth for his happiness?” Happiness and love is usually all most people want in life.

Perhaps things are just a bit further ahead in the west. Our daughter came out to us as bisexual on a family group chat. I was shocked for a second, but it is no issue for me. The only thing that bothered me was that she didn’t tell me first and just posted it. But it was totally her decision to make and I’ll support her in her choices. Nor was it an issue for any of her brothers or their partners. This would not have been the case 20 years ago or earlier, but sexuality is a ver talked about thing in western culture so few people get angry about it really (or at least in my experience) it’s more “ oh, you’re gay/lesbian/other, no problem we love you know matter what.”
