hello, chanwoo! i live from the philippines 🇵🇭 and this is actually called ''turon" (a banana wrapped in spring roll) plus we use a different type of banana called "saging na saba" (i think it is called plantains in english?) which is larger and more starchy than the bananas that we usually eat, we also add "langka" or jackfruit to the turon for an added flavor. "banana cue" on the other hand are bananas (also "saging na saba") rolled in sugar and skewered in barbeque sticks and it almost looks a chicken satay. anyways i really appreciate you cooking filipino foods and introducing it to your fans, thank you ❤️

Thank you Chanu. Filipinos can make a lot of menu from bananas(saba) such as: 1. Banana cue (deep fried banana with sugar and put it in a stick) 2. Turon(banana wrapped in a lumpia wrapper/spring roll and fried)- could be cook without sugar or with sugar on top 3. Ginamos (in our dialect) -mashed banana with flour and deep fried 4. Sinapot/maruya(in our dialect) - bananas cut into halves, dip in flour batter then place 4 to 5 pcs on cacao leaves or banana leaves cut into rectangular shapes and deep fried it. If the bottom part is already cooked, turn it over by removing the banana leaves first. 5. Pinakro(in our dialect) - bananas cut into four and cook it in a casserole with coconut milk, a little bit of sugar and salt 6. Nilupak(in our dialect) - steamed bananas then mashed it in a "lubang" mixed with sugar, grated young coconut, and molded into various shapes then put a topping with margarine(optional), or chunked peanut (optional)

@@iflipover no it's not. We've used it often when we don't have plantains. Frozen Saba can be found where we are but it's not often available. He used a ripe banana not overripe so the sugar content isn't as high. Also, you have to think that these bananas ripened during transit not on the tree so it won't be as sweet. That why adjusting the sugar when frying is important so that it won't be "sickeningly sweet" as you say .

In Indonesia that's called "piscok"/pisang coklat which means chocolate banana it's simillar with that but we add some chocolate and a bit of sugar so when we fry it will melt and the pastry sheet will covered by caramel from the sugar. I think you should use different type of banana chanwoo,if you use those banana or something like cavendis banana the taste will be different because the cavendis banana would taste better if being eaten just like that(without any cooking process) and it won't taste really good if it go through more cooking process. For making such kind of dishes we usually use type of banana with harder texture like "pisang kepok"/ kepok banana so if this banana gone through some more cooking process the texture still good and tasty. But I can't deny you doing such a pretty good job in rolling the pastry sheet chanwoo so proud of you 🤩😍
