You can also select tracks, right click and do "move to new subproject".

I can't believe how damn powerful and underrated reaper is

This makes more sense... Instead of me creating a song, rending, then creating a new project for mastering, etc.. this helps out a lot in time saving!

omg man this is surprising. thanks. just cant believe that Reaper can not only run on more than one computer but also have sub projects lol what a crazy program... should have spent my 10 years on this and not other DAW

Perfect for writing a bunch of midi then wanting to add real, live recorded instruments later without sacrificing buffer speed. Reaper is the the best.
@CyberAcidPlanet9 жыл бұрын
You don't need to cut and paste tracks in and out to understand what's happening, just enable Synchronize subproject playback when second-clicking project tab and you'll hear original project when using subproject..

+CyberAcidPlanet True. But then you can't close one of them and save CPU resources. But that's a great tip for other uses. Thanks

Once again a great tutorial! I use DP which has the notion of song and chunks which kind of corresponds to what Reaper does but it is a lot less flexible. Once again I am stumped!!! I sometimes do 50 min long film episodes which will benefit greatly from this functionality. It is also makes syncing a particular cue to video a breeze.

Also the bit where you recorded "over" the vocal track to compare different takes is a feature I NEVER KNEW ABOUT WHAT SO COOL

Outstanding tutorials!!! Can a similar tab view be setup on the mixer? Meaning a tab for the track faders, a second tab for the group faders, and maybe a third for fx faders or print/master?

I want to render the subproject in real time, i do not have an option to do that like in a normal render menu. because the render settings are auto decided i guess when i save the sub project? i see in this video that the renders you are doing are in real time. How?

Thanks Kenny, very useful feature that I didn't have the time to explore before. It's definitely going to be part of my workflow from now on. And BTW, nice music bed, you should definitely use it in one of your projects ;)

hello guys, is possible to autorender the subproject at 64FP bit rather than the default 32 bit?

There is a graphic problem if I open too many subprojects . It's not possible to see the latest one.. Any cue?
@NickCent6 жыл бұрын
I tried making a track and use subprojects, one for drums and one for bass . I used superior drummer and the access virus for each of the subprojects. I noticed that the start and end points must be set. I did some edits to the audio on the main project to see how they reflect to the subproject, and they do not. The changes in the original do nothing to the subproject. All edits must be done in the subproject; am I right? and then have a neat 2 stereo track view of the thing. Not ideal a workflow for making a track. Also rendering happens offline... It suits other workflows better.

Hi Kenny, first thanks for all these tutorials. Been hearing your voice a lot recently as been going through your reaper, SWS tutorials on Groove 3. Love some of the SWS extensions. Snapshots - fantastic. Reminds me of how Lightroom works for photo processing. I presume it only saves the parameters and doesn't use tons of hard disc space. This sub projects thing. I make Hip Hop beats and often make a 16 or 32 bar beat that I can loop. But then sometimes I want to make that into a 3-4 minute track. Previously I copy the physical file, rename it and the project file etc. or do a 'save as' but I am still using up my rapidly depleting hard disc space by duplicating all the media files and I like to keep them in one place for each project.Are there any other ways of using an existing project (and keeping it) to make another song from?

Probably a stupid question, but what's the difference if we just render/export our file, and then add it as a regular sound file (like a wav) in a new project?
@axkldhg33 жыл бұрын
There is no difference. This just makes it quicker to open that project back up I suppose (instead of going to like File > Open , you can just double click on the subproject audio file)

hey kenny i haven't really looked into any of this new sub project thing, it looks interesting from watching your video, but can you do a video maybe going the other direction or is it easy enough to figure out.. how does one send the mix buss to an already existent project?

Cool concept (and I'm a huge fan of the program), but in typical Reaper fashion, it's clumsy. Logic X's "alternatives" function is cleaner and easier to use.
I'm a little late, but that's actually reapers "save as new version of project" in the file menu. That's the same as logics. This is a little different however.
