My favorite part is not just how respectful the show is of Mirei as a person first and disabled second, by not calling too much attention to it but also giving deliberate care and attention to showing how she lives and plays with it, but the implications it also has that enhances her strengths. Not only does she recognize her own cards by sticker alone, but she's keeping track of the board exclusively through hearing Danji describe his actions. At all times she's memorizing how much damage he has, what he's called and what's been intercepted or retired, and even his hand size. They don't even touch on these but the implication is really helpful in elevating her as one of the most formidable fighters in the anime through its recurring theme of ones imagination being key in someone's strength. Also, it means her opening her eyes is literally an intimidation tactic which is hilarious and terrifying.

I'm surprised so many people are shocked that Mirei uses stickers to identify what card she has. They're also sleeves with Braille that people use to be able to play card games as well. But the option is very colorful and is a nice addition to her personality

Mirei playing the cards by adding stickers to them probably is a bigger statement of how much she probably trained to use her deck. As she most likely would have needed to be told what the effects of each card are, and then try to memorize each of them and associate them with the specific sticker

Absoluetly amazing ep!!! From making me feel sad with Danji not being able to tell his sister its her big bro after all the kind words/memories she shared, to the amazing fight and the terror on Danji's face with her winning image and the skills being shown once again I'm so happy the series is continuing to get back on the rails of reason. The only thing I wish they would bring back is ride chants for even more hype.

The stickers aren't how she identifies them. As far as I am aware, even to the partially vision impaired, they'd still be formless blobs. Pretty sure the sleeves have braille.

@@tashujain8881 Actually, if you looked closely in the last episode, when Danji picked up her half of the heart pendant she dropped, they briefly showed both halves to us. One had MM on it, which is obviously for Mirae...but the other looked like it said NM on it (the shot of it was a bit blurry due to the light shine on it, but you could make out some fancy curves in the lettering). And given we know the M is for Minei, the name of the family, then that would mean Danji's actual first name should start with a N, which means changing his name completely to Danji Momoyama doesn't make him as obvious to figure out.

i just realised that mirei was prob hurt in some way, and now she is blind, thats why she has a walking stick and stickers on cards, maybe what danji did was trying to give the keychain to her, but accidentally harmed her eyes, causing her to be blind (although the case seems unlikely). that is prob the best thing i could think of Edit: she also may have a photographic memory and thus able to memorise the board well (or she somehow have a very good memory), but she cant remember danji as her brother

Probably good sense and good memory. Haruka or someone else must've helped her memorized general shape of the field and all of the effects (or the cards also have braile text somewhere that the anime doesn't show for aesthetic purposes). Besides, they were separated from childhood and haven't met each other ever since until now. Plus, Haruka and Danji himself is hiding his true identity from her. Being blind means the only way for her to recognize him is by voice and sounds, but human voice experience some degree of changes as we grow up. So, it's either she genuinely can't recognize Danji as his brother as his voice doesn't really match the voice in her memory or she already recognized it but decided to keep quiet and playing dumb until time (if we go by episode title, it should be episode 22 iirc).
