Thx for tuning in!
This is a short, spur of the moment, video i shot today feb 4th 2023.
I wanted to test out my warbonnet hammock in the winter, together with the Carinthia HUQ (Hammock Under Quilt) and the Tropen/Grizzly sleeping system combo.
When I went out in the evening it was around zero degrees celsius and during the night it dropped to around -8. Thermometer at home when I got back was at -10,6.
Humidity was around 91-93% and the pressure around 1032hPa.
I chose a spot for this test just a short 15 min walk from my home as I knew this was probably on the optimistic side of things when it comes to what temperatures this equipment is more supposed to cover. But I wanted to try :-)
All in all it went very well! I was cold mainly on my feet and toes, slightly also on the legs. But upper body was comfortable!
I ended up covering my feet also with my Patagonia light jacket for some extra comfort.
I would not recommend this set up for these temps, but if you have to - it definitely works, and it is not extreme, though maybe not super comfortable either. With a winter rated sleeping bag or top quilt it would probably be comfortable...I will have to try that at some point ;-)
For now Im happy with the test and as I haven't found a lot of reviews or info on the capability of the Carinthia HUQ 180 a thought I'd share my experience and thoughts. Any questions put it in the comments and I will try to answer.
Cheers!
