0:55 if you have to amputate your knee or calf region for whatever reason, you legit get the whole bottom half of your leg taken out, turn your foot around and sew it back on. The ankle now works as a pseudo knee and you can also fit a prosthetic onto your foot. This is the prime example of "it aint stupid if it works"

the backwards foot is actually intentional. The foot joint replaces the knee joint in those with damaged legs, allowing protheesis to be more effective and replace the leg itself better. Its a surgery that is often done when the bones in the leg have decayed, weakened irreparibly, or been irreparibly damaged. It takes a nonfunctional leg and turns it into a leg far more adaptive than just cutting the enture thing off. It's actually pretty ingenious.

1:05 the backwards foot is a wanted result of a special leg amputation where you only take away a part of the leg but keep the shin, foot and ankle to use it as an ersatz upper leg and knee joint. This can be really helpful because a joint improves the use of prosthetic legs. This type of surgery (I think it's called something like rotationplasty) is often performed when the leg is cancerous near the knee
