Some of this is fake -- but a lot of these people feel that they are "beating the system" with what they do -- it's not so much about the money (the first one was wearing makeup and earrings -- she would not own such things if she really cared). They just get a big kick out of the feel that they have "hacked it", even though, they are really just hurting themselves.

Yeah Will houses are massive in most non city areas in the US. £250,000 can get you a 4 bed house in a lot of places. It's mental, nothing more depressing than my American friends are getting 4/5 bedroom houses with two living rooms/a giant backgarden for the same price as my 2 bed semi in the UK.
