What she says about Bronze rank is totally true. People get intimidated by high level or even mid level play, but low level play is nothing like that. In Bronze, people don't know what they are doing, but new players looking at Master Duel as a whole have this weird notion that everyone plays at a high level even at bronze. While it is true that decks are not restricted by rank and thus you can find any deck in bronze, you're not likely to be facing them, let alone frequently.

It's cool seeing Subaru's Master Duel experience because it reflects mine so much. I'm someone who only watched the anime in the early days, so coming into MD, I was blasted with information with XYZ cards, Synchro summoning, and learning the concept of hand traps. Despite that, I still wanted to have fun and use cards like Blue-Eyes and Dark Magician because that was what I knew. I hardly cared if I lost often or not, I was still having fun with the game. And man, I felt proud about myself when I hit Platinum for the first time last year. Even now, I still play Dark Magician, though I have branched out to other anime decks like Stardust Synchron and Red Dragon Archfiend. I still enjoy this game, and while I have never grinded to Diamond or Master since I am more casual, I still find enjoyment out of Master Duel. Even watching others or finding people playing more unique and wacky decks is something I love since this game has 25 year history lol. It has issues, partially a byproduct of Yu-Gi-Oh as a card game currently, but if newcomers like Subaru and me can enjoy it while finding success, others can too

I was asked to try Pokemon, and a similar shock occured for me. "whats a V, Vstar, Vmax, and an Ex? why are ex's designed with so little counter support. whys a dark type charizard stomping on my face for the 15th time toda- oh right, they gave them out freely, so they get used a lot, right. still, why does he get to direct attach energy to anywhere on that side of the field from evolving it?" @DarkCT Жыл бұрын
@@Laevant adjustment time is needed, is all. granted the pokemon relearn wasn't as complex for me, but the theres not that many ways to pull out complicated or cornercase wins in the current standard format. I think part of why is a double edged sword to pokemons benefit and downside. rotation results in a narrower line of cards, but the pokemon card game also actively sells meta relevant decks near the ground floor, to the point playing the current online version hands you some stuff not far off from their tournament tier decks. this means the meta line in pokemon in that format is far more easily approachable than yugioh, but that also means you don't see as weird cornercase decks because at least in their live client you run into so much meta heavy stuff because people won't go out of their way for worse results often. due to the lack of variant win cons, the only ways to win are decking out your opponent, clearing the whole field, or out prize-trading your opponent, and some of the odder decks require both coin flips on top of normal card luck. Maybe id like their longer term formats more, but it feels like there's just nothing like my non-meta yugioh decks there, which benefit from Yugioh's eternal but banlist format design and amount of alt-wincons. I just pulled a win in the master duel festivals this month by running into a hard staller that let me pivot from paleozoic into an Exodia finish to take the win. meanwhile trying to play United Wings in pokemon always feels like an uphill climb to me when i just can't put enough birds in the discard to effectively prize trade and just see defeat slow-marching towards me, forcing me to either sit for it, or concede because i know i can't regain tempo. had a 6 loss streak of that the other day.

and for many of those older formats, people discover just how fast and crazy a lot of old decks can be

As someone who quit around pendulum intro, it didn't use to be this fast. A lot of decks were fast but for casual play between me and my brokeass friends. We had slower decks, now in casual, it's fast or die. Also playing all these cards on the opponent's turn is blowing my mind

@@NakanoHitoriYou can still pick up a deck like Traptrix if you want slow. It's almost trolling how slow they make the game

@@1stCallipostle I have a traptrix deck, people are telling me it's okay I just need to put in more cards

I only played yugioh in playground and in locals during gx and begenning of 5ds era where synchro were new. Got back into yugioh due to masterduel and got the hang of the mechanics and staples. How do you get into to yugioh and learn, treat it like a fighting game and choose a deck that focuses on a certain mecganics. For example i saw Madolche and that made me want to play. I saw that the boss monster are all xyz. I then read all the cards and they tell you their gimmick like madolche dont want monsters in their grave, then i practiced in solo till i learnt the basic combo. Also its ok to net deck, nothing wrong with that

Those Kashtira face looks peaceful lmao. But truely, they are locking the field, lock 1, lock 2, lock even more. Not to mention some other decks are just like: Labrynth: i set 5 trap cards and end my turn Tearlaments, Branded,...: your turn? you mean OUR TURN

Edison is a great format to introduce new and returning players, don't know what the OCG equivalent is

If she want to win with dark magician, i would say try to put some kashtira cards in. DM is level 7 so it works with kashtira and dm also only has like rod as a normal summon

There's no point running a fun deck if you're just gonna give the meta sloppy toppy to win anyway

Plot twist: Dark Magician Girl and Oozaru Subaru are both Futanari. Their opponents and rivals are all literally screwed.

She has learned the harsh truth. Also any yoga newcomers if you’re getting into the game just play Edison format

In all fairness, I had a similar story when coming back to Yugioh, with all the different summons. It took me a long time to learn them. But I now know how each one basically works. Though, I find myself at odds with the competitive mindset of Yugioh players these days, as all I wish to do is play casual, slow games.
