I put my dash cam in the same place. I felt it was the best area with the least compromises. I did hardwire it to the fuse box and it was extremely easy

Nice! How did you run the wires? You have the time-lapse and motion sense function now, right?
@livingaboard3 жыл бұрын
@@MatthewHeiskell I just ran it along the top of the headliner down the a-pillar, behind the little decorative plastic piece in the left side of the dash and used a tap a fuse into the cigarette lighter fuse. I have the viofa 129 and I don't have it set up for hyperlapse, or motion sense. Just on and off with the key

Next time you make a video like this put tbe exact model of your car mate There are so many more clips on different models. Got myself in the deep coz of this. Edit: Eventually it all worked out. The man's a legend.

@@MatthewHeiskell Don't mind me. That panel put up a real fight and got me real mad. I should watch my language. Eventually it worked out. My model had another clip at the front of the panel, between the two cameras and to unclip that I had to remove the rear view mirror. The cables and layout were also so different. What I did eventually was to find a plus from the sunroof cables (I followed the couplings) and attach the negative to a bolt that was holding the cameras unit, which was attached to the body of the car. Eventually it all worked. Your video helped me a lot to come up with the idea and execution - it was just a couple small differences that I didn't account for, but eventually it all worked out. Thanks a lot mate. Keep it up.

I have the Thinkware q800 pro hooked to a celllink neo to get 36 hours of parking mode. Have the celllink hardwired into the fuse box. Have all wires hidden under molding. For 20 bucks order the molding pop up tools. Works awesome. Cell link hidden under drivers seat. Never worry about the car battery. I have a 2019 outback

Instead of that usb could you use the hardwire Kit ? I have a 2020 ascent think it’s the same?
@MatthewHeiskell4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, but the hardwire kit needs a constant battery plus connection in addition to the switched positive and ground connections. But if you did the extra work, you could get the extra features like motion detection recording and time lapse.
@CareyP4 жыл бұрын
So I would need to go to the fuse box for those added features?
@mkhor74 жыл бұрын
Yes, recommended to use hardware kit which has low voltage protection against draining your car battery if you are going to use the +12v wire besides the ACC wire
@fr3739694 жыл бұрын
Already ordered hardwire kit, so probably still gonna hardwire it, but hey this video is cool, and I would probably put my a119v3 in the same spot like you did

No, sorry. You have to do some fancier wiring to get that ability. This just turns on when you start the car, and off when you turn the car off.

did you have any bolts holding the dome trim down in your crosstrek?
@terrybogard213 жыл бұрын
Just did my wife's 2021 Crosstrek Limited with the A129 Pro Dual setup. I moved the dashcam to this videos setup spot from another due to "possible slight" eyesight disruption. We are talking a space of below the dotted area to actually on the dotted area. Also I routed my power from the headliner down into the fuse box area using the hardwire kit. Well worth it. I did have to remove two 8mm bolts for tucking wires into the eyesight area. The rear camera routing was easy, until I hit the rubber grommet leading into the truck area. Once done though, it's such a clean install.
