This is good info. I've got an SF Forester GT auto, once I get the transmission sorted I'll be testing it out around home, it comes standard with the AT lock which is awesome, might look at upgrading the front and rear diffs to proper LSD/Lockers at some point in the future, but for now I want to make it drive and comfortable. Hey mate - wondering if you can comment on on-road comfort of your subi. I currently own a Suzi Jimny and have found it just far too hard to live with day to day, not to mention, very poor crash safety. In addition, its 4x4 capabilities are really beyond my needs for adventure and exploration (rather than rock crawling). I have seen you wheel with Suzuki's sometimes, wondering if you have ridden in one on the roads and could comment on how comfortable your Subi is with its lift and tyres compared to a Jimny? I know stock forester is very comfortable and good highway cruiser, just wondering if your mods made it significantly worse. Awesome ride by the way, really clean build & great off road performance - very inspiring. Cheers from Australia.
@ALNSMOVERLAND2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment mate! The Forester is very comfy on and off road! The lift doesn't affect anything but the tires can (mostly noise) I was able to compare it to a land rover discovery and the comfort of the little Subie is way better 😁 and they are also very secure car in case of crash

I'm sorry but I just have to say from personal experience having an SF Forester that had a Pedders "heavy duty" 1 inch lift kit - get rid of those shocks. They will not last. Mine were leaking oil after just 20,000km and I can see in the video that your boots are already ruined. They are letting dust and dirt in which will soon destroy the seals in the hydraulics of the shocks. KYB make good shocks for the SF Forester and that's what I've got now.
@ALNSMOVERLAND Жыл бұрын
Hey mate, thank you for your feedback! I'm running pedders shocks on both of my forester (my overland build and my abused daily) and so far so good. I'll keep a eye on them after you comment tho. KYB definitely makes great shocks as well 👍
@ashchaya7676 Жыл бұрын
@@ALNSMOVERLAND Yeah mate just keep an eye on them. I should have also mentioned that my use case is what's known as "high speed off-roading". Basically rally driving. The reason is because I live in rural Australia and every road is a 100 zone and rough as hell. Low speed off-roading would be somewhat less taxing on shocks.

Hey, i think all this off road mods are not cheap. You musst have spent a lot of money to get the car you have now. But why? For this money and all the work you kann buy a car that is already fine for offroad like landrover or hilux. So what is the advantage in your opinion to mod the forester?
@musasizigodfreydixion62312 жыл бұрын
Taste& preference.
@norincofan19492 жыл бұрын
they're not expensive. total cost is probably $5000 including labor. you still have a good daily driver with decent mileage. land rover has 5 yr depreciation > 60% which is atrocious. hilux (4runner in the US) is good but large. both land rover and 4runner have terrible mileage and drive like shit on pavement. the only true (mechanical) 4wd that competes with the forester in its segment is the jeep wrangler.
