ALWAYS wipe the filter threads before mounting the new filter or you may have large, metal shavings going straight into your engine.

@@tomwalma4762 All FA and FB direct injected engines have the filter up top. Older style EJ engines are down below along with the H6 EZ engines.

First time I changed the oil on my 2016 Outback it turned out the #>@! who did the last change cranked the plug on so tight it was almost impossible to budge. Almost. Once it was off I replaced it with a Smart-O plug. Far superior to the factory plug.

That's the first time I've ever heard that the optimal fill point is halfway between the high and low marks on the dipstick. While that's fine, I always refill the oil to the full mark. What's your issue with that, since you obviously think that midway is better?
@StarsAutoSport4 ай бұрын
@@jeffstone28 Mid to high is best. Just don’t over fill. Much easier to add than to remove.

how often have you changed the CVT fluid and diff?

@@Marco-qe5zw every 60k at least. I would recommend every 30k if possible. It depends on how you drive the vehicle.

Do you change the oil at 6 months if you’re not at 5k or 6k miles?
@StarsAutoSport6 ай бұрын
I would do every 5k, 6 is fine. 👍

5 quarts? Owners manual calls for 4.4 quarts. You saying to over fill it?
@StarsAutoSport5 ай бұрын
You can start with 4.4 quarts, start the engine and check the level. As long as your level is within spec on the dipstick you’re in the clear.

Wait! A "good OEM filter?" That's not what you used in the video! @@StarsAutoSport

@@jeffstone28 customer supplied, not my car 😂 but I do recommend going with oem filters if possible. As long as you’re changing your oil frequently, any filter is better than lack of oil changes.
